Toilet paper

NATIONAL Police stations are running out of toilet paper due to lack of funding, recent reports claim.

Officers have been ordered to bring their own until further notice, according to the Technical and Economic Division of the force.

Despite the interior ministry having set aside a budget of a quarter of a million euros and called for supply companies to bid for the franchise of administering toilet roll to National Police stations throughout Spain, the force says due to budget restrictions it can no longer afford to provide it.

The 250,000-euro budget was nearly double that set aside in 2012, yet in 2011 the National Police in Spain bought around 1.2 million rolls, which fell to half a million rolls in 2012.

Even though the contract for supplying this basic necessity stipulates that a basic, double-sheet type rather than the 'premium' brand used before will be provided, the police force says the estimated 260 euros per 1,000 rolls calculated by the franchise company will not cover their needs.

Spain uses more toilet paper than anywhere else in the EU, with an average of 14 kilos per person per year being consumed.

Article from Think Spain. :)

You're on a roll this morning fifi !

I bet the local nick got through a few rolls when the Corralejo guardia officers realised they'd had their collars felt in the drugs bust a few months back.   :o

That's fascinating!  14kg is about 100 rolls per person per year. Why do they use so much?  Is it the diet?  Or do they have different toilet habits, perhaps?

Yes it is tiger. ;)

I felt the need to do some further research on the subject. :)

Consumption depends on whether one is a folder, wadder or a wrapper.

Are most people "wadders" or "folders" of toilet paper?
When it comes to toilet paper, women are more apt to be grabbers and wadders, while men tend to be folders.
• Folders/Stackers: 40%
• Wadders: 40%
• Wrappers: 20%

In a different survey,
• Folders – 52% of men & 38% of women
• Wadders – 38% of men & 52% of women
• No preference – 6% of men & 6% of women
• Don't know – 4% of men & 3% of women

Having  recently observed my natural habits I would describe myself as a "Wadder". Out of curiosity I counted the sheets..........12 in total. :o

I must economise.

A question for all Forum users.

Which type of user are you?

And why? :D

Fuerter police use quite a lot to roll their joints. Would the Spanish use so much paper because of the Bidet's i.e. to dry with?????  I have two but never used them except to wash my feet after the beach.

Interesting fact.... Did you know  that making a roll of toilet paper uses 1.5 pounds of wood, 37 gallons of water and 1.3 KWh of of electricity?

We sell between two and three pallets of toilet rolls a month and its common knowledge that 40 % are taken home  or in other words nicked and of course the police are no different to any one else.

Well thank goodness for that, Fifi: the relief is palpable.

THE GREAT DEBATE:  Are you "A"  or  "B"

dagwood

A friend of mine has a young Grandson who is half German. This young man pronounces light as slight. So if my friend tells someone they are talking a load of light they should be very insulted. Or have you seen the light, well why then did you step in it.

That means that you are an organised over achiever Deso. Would you agree with that?

I am a " B " and a  wadder myself......so im laid back and artistic....mmmm....sort of true about me I think.

Deso

Hmmm, I try to be organised, so I guess that bit is true. Over achiever, may have been true at one time, but then I discovered girls and it went a bit downhill after that.   ;D

My other half is an "A" which winds me up, as I'm a "B" and always have to change it round  :o
