Mess left on planes !!

Just returned on a Canaries Ryanair flight, we were sat near the back and on disembarking the rear doors were not opened, so we were nearly last off, and to tell the truth I was disgusted at the mess, litter etc that was left after the most of the passengers were off !! Noticed this a few times before, must be hateful on the RA staff for their quick turn around ! Anyone else notice this kind of thing ?

Pat it is the British disease of littering.  We must be among the worse in the world.    I have a high school down road from me and we have locally a real litter problem.   To be fair it is only a small minority which give the rest of the school bad name.

We always take a carrier bag on board with us for any rubbish we have. Like Pat, we've been on the rear of planes and made the same walk. Some of the states you see where people have been are disgraceful. I wonder what the cleaners must think when they've got to pick all the number two up!!!!

What I can't understand is why these messy people can't put their rubbish in the bags the RA staff walk up and down with, they do it several times during the flight and particularly when it's on landing approach.

I am always appalled at the mess a lot of people leave behind and feel so sorry for the staff that have to clean it up in the short amount of time they have. I once even saw a dirty nappy on the floor, how disgusting is that? Me and hubby call it the walk of shame like a certain quiz programme.  Makes you feel ashamed that a lot of people don't have any decency or manners.

The thing is that 99% of these messy people will be staying in someone's apartment or in a hotel room or a self catering set up in hotel, and they will walk out of their the morning they are leaving and leave the place in just as big a mess as they leave the plane.

When it comes to mess made by kids then you can kinda let them off a bit, i.e a dropped bag of crisps crumbs etc

But general waste left by adults, no need

Not just the brits recently came back from India and the flights to and from Mumbai were a disgrace,the worse people  being those in premium economy and business/first class and most of these were of Indian origin,but the brits had there fair share as well

Messy people are messy people but if kids did it at home mammy would make them pick it up. When its on an airplane its ok as the servants will clean up your mess. Good training for the children. They all grow up to be fly tippers and litter bugs.

There was great scene on Casualty a few weeks back, where a lippy teen just dropped a sweet wrapper on the floor in the hospital.  When asked to pick it up she said "that's what cleaners are for" to which the nurse replied - "we have standards here. if you want to be seen by a doctor you had better abide by them".  She meekly picked it up and put it in the bin.  Made me feel quite good!.

We should all take a lesson from that episode of casualty and where we see people littering tell them to clean up. Especially dog walkers.

I have yet to see a dog having a potty poo poo on a plane or in ER. Talk about off topic.

Well said. Litter does appear to be a modern world problem not just on planes. When I see somebody drop litter, I pick it up and politely say to the culprit, 'excuse me I think you've dropped this' most timesthey look at me as if imI'm stupid and just put it in there pockets.

We had a case locally of a retired gentleman who every morning would pick up litter and place it in a bin in a small green area beside his house. One morning he accidently dropped a piece of paper on his way to the bin. A litter warden seen him and gave him a ticket, he let it go to court and the case was thrown out but he never lifted litter again. Probably the warden needs litter to keep his job but I think its another case of Hitler would be proud.
