please tell me how its getting expensive to travel to the island now easyjet/ryanair you are a joke now

waggy

I haven't been since Feb, Darren, so I don't know what prices are like now. Are they higher just to the Canaries or to other places as well?

glenys

The Government has brought in a new passenger duty for flights,I think this has made a difference. Also Spain has reintroduced flight landing fees I think. If you can get the flights as soon as they come out there are still bargains.

darren1971

waggy been goin 10 yrs m8 solid and i paid 300 quid last may and now cheapest i can get is 500 now i love fuete but im not payin the prices they askin i spend 2k in calete i wonder how many more will look elsewhere shame really seems like its pricing its self out now

denboy

i know what you mean darren, especially ryanair prices.like glenys said you,ve got to catch the flights as soon as they are released.we go in 4 weeks, easyjet from liverpool.we booked when they came out,and paid £180 for 2 flights with 1 20k case.we are also going next easter with friends.when the flights first came out they were £80 each, but our friends messed us about a bit, then 3 days later we paid £150 each.you can,t mess about, you,ve got to be quick.overall though i agree with you,its getting harder to get the real bargains.

Darren1971 I have posted on hear quite a few times that the days of flying for peanuts is fast coming to an end with the price of fuel rising daily not even Easy jet and Ryanair cannot fly to any destination for the same price as in the past. Ten years ago the cost was between £135.00 and £150.00 return as long as you are not tied to school holiday times you can still get to the island for that sort of money.

si2008

not helping with easyjet stopping from liverpool next summer so its only ryanair from there or we have to look at manchester ie monarch thomas cook..at moment cheapest we can get for next aug is over £800 for 3 of us  :'(

darren1971

from 300 to 500 quid in 1 year is some hike i can go cyprus for 300 quid same time maybe thats a better deal

glenys

We are flying to Fuerteventura December 29th from Bristol with Easyjet for £132 return for 2 people. Bargain..... ;D

I don't believe that there is a campaign to 'finish' Fuerteventura by Easyjet and Ryanair.

Prices for flights are increasing worldwide.

The question is whether the tourists are prepared or able to spend more for a holiday in the sun - wherever it may be.

waggy

The only 'campaign' any business has is to make more profit, airlines no exception.

KWC

Not many will want to hear this but if you book with TC et al with a package holiday, there is less likelyhood of fluctuating costs.

fifi

There are incredible deals on the link that Pennylane posted. 2 weeks  accommodation including flights from £145.

Now you cant beat those kind of prices for a package deal. Worth a look. :)  http://www.icelolly.com/search-results?partner_id=16&type=1&country=ES&arrapcs=FUE&date=28%2F11%2F2012&flex=3&board=&duration=14%3A14&depapcs&refresh=1

i,ve seen these offers before on ice lolly and teletext holidays.when you phone up they say the price of the flights has gone up,and quote you a new price.then there are extras on top, such as baggage.if you look at the price of ryanair and easyjet prices from liverpool, you will see these prices can,t be right. :'(

whyme

£300 up to £500 they obviously know you then Darren.

Do they really Denboy? Its hard to see how they could price them so low. I think Pennylane has used them before though and found them good.

Just booked RyanAir to East Midlands return at the end of November for 89.00 Euros - how bad is that?

gillgooding

Thats a real bargain for your flight!!  If those prices are really correct couldn't people book the holiday at that price and just use the flight and stay at accommodation of their own choice if they didn't want to stay at the hotel or apartment offered by icelolly? We did a similar thing a few years ago when we booked a square deal to Portugal where you didn't know where you were going till you landed.  We got a decent resort but awful hotel so had a walk round the resort and made enquiries and found a great apartment with sea views for a very good price.  It still worked out much cheaper and we just went back to be picked up at the original hotel on our departure day.

Ryanair ex Lpool 25/11-09/12
Flight 68.54
Adm    6.00
Bag 15kg +40.00
Bag 20kg +60.00

Most companies quote prices from!
Usually excluding baggage and transfers.

ashworth

Just got back from liverpool on wednesday with Ryanair 35 pounds. Also lots of good value flights around over winter. Take a look.

PeterHeirman

It's almost cheaper to fly to the West Indies (Sri Lanka) than to  Canaries due to the low prices of Gulf Airlines (Quatar, Ethiad, Emirates)

Blueboy7

Hi Ashworth, could you point me in the right direction for winter deals from from any Northern airport, one week, one person, Nov, Dec or Jan.
cheers

This Peter Heirman could possibly do alot of us a very big favour and buy his ticket to where ever that is so cheap and stop his "doom and Gloom" diatribes or do it else where. I dont believe I have read a positive post on this forum from this person and have felt some of them have shown some what of a hidden agenda.
Alright the days of Cheap flights do seem to be over BUT be real a UK train ticket from London to Edinburgh simalar time of a journey is 120£Stg rising to 205£Stg SINGLE so please get real.

and when you get to Cypress you will find the price of everything very expensive , we used to go regularly , the last time being 4 years ago and it was expensive even then .

glenys

My friend has a villa in Cyprus and says the flights here are really expensive and they have to get form Swansea to Birmingham to fly. She also says the cost of living is very high too. We have been travelling to Fuerteventura for about 12 years and the prices now are very cheap compared to a few years ago. If I could fly as cheaply with Emirates etc as someone has suggested I could visit my son 3 times a year instead of going to Fuerteventura........

I told a mate of mine about this deal on Wed night. When he enquired about it on Thursday the total price was £340-360 pp dependant on the departure date, type of accomodation and type of board    :o :o

Spike On Q

You have to play Ryanair and the other cheap airlines at their own game - no checked luggage, cash passport, flexible dates, etc. etc.
