CD Corralejo 1 - 0 Tenerife II

Good game today and a decent turnout too, maybe due to the fact that there was more posters around than usual? Corralejo had some decent spells of play and some good spells of passing, with some impressive movement, touches and interchanges.

The left back (No 3) had a very good game, particularly in the first half. He made the darting overlap run on the left wing and crossed the ball for what ended up being Corralejo's winner.

Another piece of information I found particularly interesting was the new centre back (No 5)playing his first game. After overhearing some locals, I managed to ascertain that he has previously been on the books of Real Madrid (youth), Liverpool (youth) and more recently, Alaves. For me, being a Scouser and a Liverpool supporter, I though that was quite cool. He had a very solid game and made some vital blocks and tackles and looks like a very promising acquisition. After some Googling when I got home, I managed to find out his name - Aridane Hernández Umpierrez.

You're very welcome  ;)

My other half was complaining about the heat as she doesn't usually come to the games with me. I'll be honest, heatwise, that was the 'mildest' game I've been to. Two hours is a long time to sit without any shade but I though today was alright, at least there was clouds too. All the previous games I've been to have been in relentless, scorching sunshine. I've even had to take cover in the shade of the snack bar before now.

Glad you both got to get to the game and glad you both enjoyed it too.  ;)

The next two games are away, so the next home game is on 24th Nov. As always, I'll post the KO time as and when I find out.

Such a shame it's on the 24th as we go home that day :(
Anyhew back in April so hoping to catch another game then

Tough game for Corralejo yesterday in what were difficult conditions, as yesterday was VERY windy. Corralejo took the lead on the 15 minute mark after some good play on the left wing, resulting in a free kick. The free kick, just left of the 18 yard line, was whipped into the box and headed home. San Pedro saw more of the ball in the secound half but never really looked threatening. The 90 minutes were up and it was looking like a 1-0 win for Corrie, until San Pedro won a corner in the 94th minute and scored the equaliser from the corner, bad defending from Corralejo's point of view as I think they just switched off thinking the game was done and dusted.

The new lad at the back, Aridane Hernadez, gave another solid performance. You can definitely tell he's played at a higher level. Obviously, learning his trade at Real Madrid, Liverpool, Valladolid and Alaves has no doubt hepled.

Corrie's next game is away to Union Viera on 1st December and the next home game is on 8th December against Tenisca.

Great result for Puerto yesterday, keep the good work up Steve, top man.....

A decent game yesterday although Tenisca were not up to much. They relied heavily on their captain No 10 who looked like he had played at a higher level. As he faded so did they. Still CDC played some patient posession football and thoroughly deserved the win. An early 20 yarder from an uncleared corner allowed CDC to control the game and a tap in early in the second half after what must have been a twenty pass move settled it.
Must mention CDC No5 with the 'David James' bad afro: looks to be a quality player and they'll do well to keep hold of him. Also CDC No2 gave the Tenisca No3 a torrid afternoon.
A mention to for the Officials. A youngish super fit Referee who was not at all Spanish in the eay he refereed. No cautions - he man managed the game to great effect.
A bit of nonsense towards the end: the CDC was neing substituted and he did or said something to the Tenisca 3 which nobody saw. From the 3's reaction I suspect it was a spit. Anyway after the game he was still mad enough to try and get into the CDC dressing room and had to ne restrained quite forcefully. Shame.

Oops it was the CDC No 9 who was being substituted!
