If Cotillo top the league at the end of the season they'll go into the play off system for a place in Third Division(Group 12) which is the league that Corralejo are in.

Union Puerto are doing well now, after a poor start to the season.

Cotillo v Teror
Caught the 10.00 No8 from Corrie in case it esd a 11.00 kick off. Turned out to be 12.00 so plenty of time to find a cwtch for Mrs J at The Lagoons.
€3 admission to the quaint little ground. They have a new looking UEFA approved plastic pitch with the little black rubber bits in. Seating/standing is all along one touchline and is very close to the pitch which makes for a really good atmosphere added to by the base drums which went on for the whole game. A really good crowd which could have been most of the village as everyone seemed to know each other. More of a social occassion than a football match.
Anyway you can see why Cotillo are where they are: a very attack minded team well led by a young and fast No9 and well supported by the equally fast No10 and Dino (once of Corralejo) 3 in midfield and a young but well disciplined back 4 made for a very decent side.
Not that Teror were up to much. They scored in the 12th min with their only shot om target. Cotillo scored 3 in the next 8 mins and it was game over. Another goal 10 mins from the end sealed a very good performance. Dino was subbed after 70 mins. 10 mins latet he was in the stand with a beer.
All in all a really enjoyable experience. If I dont go and watch CD Corralejo on Sunday its because Ive gone back there!

You can relax now lol. Posters are up at the Tourist Office and the Supporters Bar (and strangely only there) showing CD Corralejo v Viera on 21.04.13 kick off 12.00.
I'll be there unless Mrs J wants a day at the Lagoons; then I'll be at Cotillo.
Enjoy

So Corrie v Viera it was as Mrs J thought it too hot for the beach. She was right 36C at the ground on Sunday.
Funny old game: Viera had the right idea in the heat playing neat football and letting the ball do the work. A few chances for both sides and it could have been 2-2 not 0-0 at half time.
Second half Corrie pushed up more on the Viera back 4 and they lost their shape completely. Long balls replaced their composed football and it seemed the tactics were a back 4 and everyone else up front.
Corrie took advantage with some quick breakaways and took the lead with a penalty for hand ball converted by No6. Another brrakaway saw No8 score the second. A penalty for Viera 10 minutes from the end shoild have made for an inteteresting finale but poor marking at a free kick allowed Corries No 4 to scote the third.
I lost count of the yellow cards but it was well into double figures with a brace for Viera's No3 resultimg in an early bath.
Corrie seem to be playimg as if their season is alteady over with nothing to play for. A much changed team from that I saw in December, a new kit Joma replacing Adidas and no shirt sponser : the Fuerte snail come treble clef had gone. Less than 100 supporters there and no atmosphere. How do they manage to keep the team going?
Oh they have opened a little club shop at the ground.

Captain Sensible

Thanks for the report.

It does make me wonder how they can survive financially, especially with the costs of flying to theother Canary Islands for the away games.

Hopefully they won't go the same way as UD Fuerteventura and Playas de Jandia.

Captain Sensible

Today's result:

Tenisca   1   CD Corralejo  1

Corralejo are 10th with 50 points.

There were no matches in the Preferente League this weekend for Cotillo and Union Puerto.

Carlo

Interesting to see that Dino is now playing for El Cotillo. I was told that he's gone back home to Gran Canaria as he was homesick and missing his family. I think the reality is that he wasn't getting any game time at Corralejo any more.

Captain Sensible

Today's result:

CD Corralejo  3   Vera   1

Corralejo are 9th with 53 points.  2 games to play.

Today's results in the Preferente:

Union Puerto   3   Valinamar   3
Union Yaiza  1  CD Cotillo  1

Cotillo are 1st with 67 points (6 points clear).  Puerto are 7th with 45 points.

3 games left to play

Captain Sensible

Yesterday's result:

Andres   2   CD Corralejo   0

In the Preferente:

Velez  4   Union Puerto  2

CD Cotill0 play today at midday, and are close to winning the title.

Unusual to concede 4, Paddster :o

Today's result:

CD Cotillo 8 (eight) Poligono 0

That means that Cotillo are the Champions as they can't be caught. What a season for a team that only got promoted from the Fuerteventura league last year.

jonesesjourneys

Captain

When I saw El Cotillo a few weeks ago I thought then that they were a very attacking team, but 8-0 to win the Championship is tremendous.
I understand that the Champions from the two Preferente Leagues are automatically promoted to Tercera Groupo 12, whilst the two runners-up play off for the third promotion place.
If that's correct there will be a couple of derby games against CD Corralejo next season.
I hope one is when I'm over in early December and I look forward to you posting the fixtures.
Let's hope 'Paddster's' beloved Union Puerto will be as successful next season.

Am I getting confused or should this be CD Cotillo and not CD Corralejo?   ???

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Union Puerto completed their season with a 3 - 0 away win at the next to bottom club on Wednesday night.

They'll finish 6th or 7th, which is very good considering their poor start to the season.

CD Cotillo (the Champions) play theire last game on Sunday at home against San Bartolome from Lanzarote.

CD Corralejo finished 8th in the Third Division (Group 12).

Paddster

They've had a good season Steve  ;D Did you manage to get on any games ? Hope we do when i'm over mate  :)

Captain Sensible

I didn't get to many Puerto games because of work commitments.  They might switch their home games to Sunday next season :).

Paddster

Really ? Keep clued up Steve and let us know nearer the time mate, cheers  :) :)

Captain Sensible

I'll keep clued up :D

CD Cotillo won their final game against San Bartolome from Lanzarote 5 - 1.

The Champions finished with 73 points from 34 games.
