Not quite correct!

It is near Costa Calma, but the beach is Sotavento and the hotel nearest is the Melia Gorriones. As you can see, the beaches down South are also excellent and its where we head to every time we go to Fuerteventura.

I was on Sotavento beach yesterday, Risco del Paso by the Rene Egli surf centre. Will post a pic later.

We spent our first visit to Fuerte at Los Gorrriones in 1981. No carousels at the airport, bags laid out on a wall outside the terminal (shed). Three hour bus ride to the hotel through the middle of the island.  Fantastic beach and weather in February, but the hotel catered only for Germans. Lots of sauerkraut and no paella or fresh fish. Eventually we hired a car and visited Morro Jable, then just an isolated village. 
You had to book a slot 24 hours in advance to call the UK.
We fell in love with the island and have been coming here ever since, but always in the north.

We drove down to that beach last year from Caleta, with my wife and 5 year old son. It's a beautiful place, we spent 15 mins on the beach when they both decided it was too windy, too much sand flying around and I had to pack up and go back to the car.There's no pleasing some people.

I guess thats the main negative, the wind. It is pretty wide and open to the elements, but there are lots of stone circles and vegetation bunkers etc that one can get into out the way when it does blow.

In a villa on the beach between Jandia and Corry   Look out for the black smoke from the chimney, that will be the wife cooking the dinner, you'll not miss it.

Taken on my BlackBerry no less. I'm no David Bailey but I'm well chuffed with that Morro Jable pic (the bottom one). Hiked right to the highest vantage point to take that, the temperature was reading 36 too! Well worth it though
