Slightly off topic I know, but got 1.172 for cash and 1.185 on my FairFx card today..Appears the Government think the exchange rate is a bit high and intend to start printing money again later this week or next according to the business pages of the Sunday`s which will ensure inflation goes up and the value of the pound collapses......Hey Ho eh!!

When I was over Jan-March the shop by Woodside was always 1.10/1.11.The little supermarkets by Mambo's varied between 1.15/1.18.With my Nationwide card I got 1.17/1.21.At the same time the going rate in UK was about 1.16/1.17

Hi Jan1, To find a guide to current rates I use good old teletext on the BBC. (Index/Business/Foreign Exchange/Tourist Rate)from this info you should be able to get that, or close to it on the high street (may involve some leg work though) there is also the business rate which is a good guide for any transfers.
My advice is shop around, (don't forget to check for any charges) it may take a little time but it's worth it.
Hope it helps.  happy holidays :-)

hellow does anyone have a current exchange rate for the island the post office is currectly at 1.21 is it better to exchange on the island currently or on the UK high street ?

lionfish

Since no one else is replying:-  personally I would grab the 1.21.  The interbank rate as I type is 1.251 so 1.21 is a pretty good offer. I'm sure you will not get anywhere near that on the island.

gish

i have just been to ramsdens this morning and i got 1.227euro to the pound

andi

Just go to the ATM anywhere on the island just like you do at home....today it was 1.21789 , happy days
