Does the Calima have a seasonal occurrence or can it blow in at any time and, as a matter of interest, does it affect any of the other islands?

Thanks very much MLA: your first link is a good explanation and your second link animations are quite spectacular - the Caribbean to beyond central Asia!  We get traces of Sahara sand here in the UK at times, too.

That is caused by the sirocco, nothing to do with the calima.
Okay, its a wind as well, but so is the  mistral.

All I know is that I would rather have rain, hail, sleet, snow, wind, ice, red hot weather (or any other type of weather come to that) than a Calima, its the most oppressive and depressive type of weather on planet earth, I hate them with a vengeance.
