Tightened security leaving Fuerte

Firstly when leaving Fuerteventura in relations to drugs I can't understand the tightened security as I would have thought they want the drugs off the island, but in relation to explosives after the news today I can.

We left yesterday late afternoon /early evening and did not notice anything different, got through check in /bag drop and security within 15 minutes, at security all the usual things as we experience at UK airports apart from Elaine being offered plastic foot bags to keep her socks clean as she had taken her shoes off, something not all people had done!!!

Do people not understand the 100ml LIQUID rule in hand luggage one girl passed a 750ml water bottle through that was confiscated and didn't understand why

Some people don't even know that Sharm El Sheik is in Egypt, a Muslim country.

I wouldn't even think about it with ISIS up the road in the Sinai Desert. " Oh, the Sinai Desert, where's that" ??

All they see is cheap all inclusive.  going anywhere in the middle east or north africa unless you have to is insanity. After the latest outrage expect even more numbers of winter visitors to the canaries. Until they get tougher with these muslim nutters the world will get ever more dangerous with fewer and fewer safe areas for a holiday.

I'd say Skegness may well end up the only safe option, only for the fact they are queueing up to commit an atrocity in the UK as well. And we continue to let in thousands more with no security checks every week. Hold on to yer hats its going to be a rough ride over the next 10 years.

I do know where Sharm El Sheik is and that Egypt is in the middle east with its issues, but these people may and will try to make a statement any where they can so airport security world wide, including our favourite Island Fuerteventura, needs to be of the highest level so it to protects us all.

Fair play to you.  No where is 100% safe, you can be beheaded, blown up, poisoned in London, New York, Paris.  You pays your money & takes your choice.  If we all stay at home (statistically, the most dangerous place on the planet) they win.

At the end of the day we all go where we choose to, . If you do choose to take that chance though, nobody especially in places designated as high risk by the UK foriegn office should expect to be bailed out by the government getting you home and providing any aid if things go wrong.

Agreed theres the argument if we don't go there the terrorists have won. Bold words but no solution. Personally i'd sooner them think they won than see my family end up like those poor souls in that russian jet. If they had their time over again theres no doubt they would have stayed away. But you only get one chance, and if your unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time as so many who thought they would be safe have done. Its end of story.

Should'nt the kids be at school? This lot might have some further expenses if the schools dish out non-attendance fines.

Reading Windermere golfer posts about being offered plastic socks at airport - brill.  Disgusting that they don't do this in the uk (or at least not in liverpool/manchester).  So unhygienic to have to walk through in socks or bare feet upon the floor that a previous pair of shoes could have untold germs on them.  On a wider theme noticed that the sports shop in campanerio and the little shoe shop on corner opposite the local police street also have these plastic socks for when trying on shoes.

I thought the plastic socks were to stop your feet from contaminating the floor  
I don't suppose you think twice about stripping off, walking across the beach & immersing your whole body in the sea, & probably ingesting a fair amount of it in the process. Notwithstanding the bodily orifices it gets into.  Think about it

Now they have started to attack tourists on the ground and in the air and after Paris this week end we should consider ourselves targets and now consider we are at war. Stick to the rules and make life easy for other travellers and security staff to ensure we reach our destination safely

Yep Spain is on the at risk areas just like France /Uk /Morocco ,Cyprus is mentioned even Greece is a slight Risk ,France is the prime target due to their involvement in not only the middle East but Mali ,nigeria and Libya ,apparently the safest place to go in Europe is Switzerland cant really see there being a big upsurge in holidays to there,as for being rat holes ( isnt that what some on here call Nuevo Horizonte )bit of a blinkered statement there, some of these countries are the most historical /cultural places in the world (but culture is lost on here to most) bit like all Moroccans in corrie are  dodgy i.e  terrorist remember that gem  any murders or bombs in corrie recently?

On a lighter note do you think we should have a poll on where your going on holiday next  be interesting seeing most of Europe is at risk (allegedly) asia /Africa is mainly Muslim and Usa is the land of infidals ,Greenland anyone ?
