The latest British Naturist Magazine has an article about El Caleton apartments in El Cotillo.

So yet another nail in the coffin of being able to get accommodation there.  Certainly a good article on this little bit of paradise.

A couple years ago I spoke to a person who owned one of the apartments at El Caleton who is not a naturist. He used to escape the pressures of his occupation. He claimed that the place was nearly full all year round.  Maybe others here can confirm this statement.

On the otherhand, wanting to rent or live there requires individuals with special/unique values.  I'm certain that 99.99999% of all American's wouldn't even consider a place so remote, so rustic and so far from town regardless of their view of naturism.  ( Now you know why I enjoy returning to El Cotillo. ;)    )

Dan, I suspect the effect of the article will be minimal and short lived. I base this claim on the following example. There was a movie called Sideways" which was based on two jerks having a trip to a California wine region. The movie was quite popular. But what really ticked me off was the producers showed the names of the actual wineries and towns the jerks visited. This included my favorite restaurant in the area, one I had visited many times.  I didn't return to the restaurant for many years, but when I finally did, I was quite pleased. Same owners, same excellent food and spectacular wine and no noticeable change in the floor plan.  They told me that initially they were overwhelmed, but within a couple years, life had returned to normal.

That was my concern about Exodus. If it becomes a smash hit, goodbye Cofete as a place to escape to & enjoy your own company for a few hours

SoCal.  Yes from my experience El Caleton is normally fully booked when there last Sept the couple below were booking for the following year and that is a normal practice for a lot of folk.   I have been going there for over 12 years on and off and been in most of the apartments, all of which are different as all are individually owned.

We hope this dosent make it too popular. We had a year away from El Caleton and Fuerteventura last year but will be back in July. We have taken the only 2 weeks available for the apartment we wanted in June and July, and that was booked in October last year. Like other people, in previous years we have booked year on year for the apartment we want. You are right So Cal, these apartments, and in fact the El Cotillo area, is not everyones cup of tea thankfully.

Thanks to your warnings we've managed to book 7 El Caleton for the first  week of October - 2015!! We were in no 7 last Oct but when we left, it was already booked for 2014. We ended up booking the now famous number 9. This will be our 4th stay in there!! Great views, though 7 and 11 just have the edge.
