I thought we would have our own Official Opening - wave a Union Flag, buy some English milk, a few dark beers, etc. Meet in reception of Jandia Princess across the road at 11.30, after the initial rush. If wet in church hall

This is bound to be a a popular social event - please add your name here

24 hours too late for me, but I'll be with you in spirit.
Get me a couple of Tombola tickets.
Will there be 'Bowling for a goat' in the absence of any pigs?

You will be missed DS - but thanks for the ideas for added attractions, I'm sure other people will want to add their suggestions

That's interesting. We use the Spar in Esquinzo for day to day stuff like milk & bread. However choice is limited & some of the staff glare at you as if you have committed some unspeakable faux pas.
We tend to do our main food shop in Moro Jable, not a problem with a car. I wonder who the target customer is? The people who stay at the Princess hotels wont be buying much. Is the Robinson AI?

Like out of town Tescos people travel miles for a big shop at Mercadona. When Puerto opened they travelled from Pajara, Gran Tarajal, etc. And still do although Lidl and Padilla are fighting back

We certainly welcome the opening of the Mercadona in Esquinzo as we used to stop at the one near Mattoral when passing en route to Rosario. Much better fresh produce than the Padilla and range of fresh fish. Hope it might make the Padilla sharpen up its act. As we are in Jandia it will be a much quicker car journey just up the motorway. Judging from the number of Mercadona shopping bags I have seen locally I think they will receive lots of custom from the Morro supermarkets.
