Private car hire.

Hello was looking to visit in Mid to late January. Are there any private car hirers? I d rather give someone local the income than give my money to the corporations. I used to live in tenerife and hire this way . I looked in the car rental section to no avail. Thanks.

That's an interesting idea but how does the insurance work out? I know you don't expect to write it off, but it's always a possibility.

Some of the car hire places here aren't exactly multinationals. AFAIK, CICAR stands for Canary Islands Car hire, and Auto Reisen was set up by some German holidaymakers turned resident, etc.

What is more very few people have reported problems with CICAR compared to most other hire companies.

Can't go wrong with PlusCar.  With any sort of private rental, you'd never know whether you were insured.

thanks for the advice. If you insure your car for any driver or wrap your head around fleet insurance you can rent your old cars out this way.
