Spanish bureaucracy,
You can`t cancel house insurance by choice, I have to prove that I have sold the property by presenting the sales contract. The electric company take a month to change the account holder, so I have to pay the bill and get the money back from the new owners.  P*ss up and brewery come to mind.

It gets worse, if I don't pay the bills which are not yours in the first place they can freeze my Spanish bank account that I am only keeping open because they are sitting on 3,000 Euros of mine from the purchase in case I owe any money.

Friends of ours recently sold up and moved back to England, they tried to close their bank account on line, but were told they couldn't so had to fly over for a day and close their account 🤔🤔

The chap we bought our place from had a similar issue. His wife was not an account holder, but an authorised user of the account, and even when he came in, they wouldn't let him close it without her present! He ended up withdrawing all money and deciding to leave it open. I hope he's able to get his withheld sum paid into his English account, otherwise they'll sting him for all the unpaid fees between now and then. 

Banks here are a law unto themselves. The quarterly fees for keeping a bank account as a non-resident here are scandalous.

Endesa need 4 weeks to change owners in the mean time I have to fund my buyers usage. Fortunately the people who bought our place are really nice people and don`t expect any issues but it just the total incompetence of everybody that gets me. I have sold the place and just want to get on with my life.
