The President of the Fuerteventura Cabildo, Blas Acosta, has sent a letter to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) proposing on behalf of the island institution that Fuerteventura be a pioneer in the implementation of the project on the first flight with the HI + Card system .

The reason that supports the request is the incidence data of the covid-19 coronavirus in the island, with a total of 44 cases over a population of more than 120,000 inhabitants, plus the tourist floating population that had when the sanitary alarm was decreed, as well as the absolute absence of deaths due to this disease.

It is a Spanish initiative, global in scope, launched by the Air Institute and Tourism Data Driven Solutions (TDDS) in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and in which the Government of the Canary Islands participates, with which It aims to guarantee health safety on flights, the first requirement to start the recovery of the tourism sector in much of the world.

Thus, Fuerteventura proposes to be the first island to implement this system, a mobile application that would allow travelers to travel safely and with full control of their data at all times, seeking to become a digital health passport thanks to blockchain technology.
