No mate may go and give me new bike a run out do a bit of green laning on what few lanes the Peak District park authority will still let us ride.

What's green landing, don't know much about rallying. Have played cricket against Dougie lampkin though if you've heard of the Lampkins.

Lampkins in the old days used to Trials which I do as well.

Green Lanes are un-made roads they look like footpaths but are actually byways sometimes called boats wich stands for  Byway open to all trafic.

We have an ongoing battle as there are only a few boats left in Derbyshire as the hikers think they are footpaths and get annoyed at motorcycles and 4x4 's driving down them. However they are walking on a road just doesn't look like one.

It's really gets me mad as the hikers can walk almost anywhere in the Peak district but want to have it all. It's a case of the majority picking on a minority but as the Peak Parks authority are mainly hikers we are fighting a loosing battle to keep them. It's happening all round the country about the only decent place we stilll can ride off road now is in the Isle of Man.

Rallying is done in closed forests same as car rallies are and we use the same fire trails the cars use but then we have special sections down single track parts to make it harder.

I enter the British Championship but don't complete all of it only did two rounds last year and blew up my bike on the second event.

Going to try and do more this year but there are 8 rounds and it cost me around £600 - £1000 per round depending howm much needs doing to the bike so I can't afford to do them all.

Interesting stuff Dave, thanks for that. I know Dougie lampkin now lives on the isle of white. Guess that was the reason for his move. The family used to live close to me, in a village called Silsden.
