They are very busy nicking speeding motorists in the south of the Island at the moment - you have been warned!! - - - -MOTHER!!!!!

The National speed limit on 90% of roads here is 90 KPH

With restrictions of 60, 50, 30 etc. in built up areas, junctions, etc

There is NO warning of a speed reduction so keep an eyes out for Speed Restriction signs ahead of you. The police tend to hang out close to the signs - so be aware

If you wish to break the speed limit consider the consequences

Cue for someone to pompously post that if you drive within the speed limits then there is no problem. Someone always posts that.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the former .....

Well if you speed you deserve all you get,no need to rush around a beautiful island, especially if you are driving in flip-flops with no sh1rt on and smoking whilst using your mobile phone ;D

Wont let you write not quite perfect. SH1RT
do illiterate people really get the benefits of alphabet soup

Magoo

Just get into the slipstream of a taxi & hang on in there. The cop can't do the pair of you  :D

Plus tailgating a taxi gives the bar stewards a taste of their own medicine :o

I'm sure they would not see you stuck, they would find some to keep you going.

After reading fifi report on rules (I think it was fifi who posted it? apologies if not) about the items one must have at all time when driving, like - Triangles, Hi Viz jackets, spare set of driving glasses etc, I e-mailed the car hire company who assured me that the car will have these items  (glasses aside!)

When I got to the car, and company rep, I asked him if the car had these items, and surprise surprise it didn't. Even though they confirmed by e-mail it did!!
He said the likelihood of getting stopped was nil and if I was fined for not having these items, they would pay me back the fine -  aye right!

I told him I wasn't happy with them and that he should relay that back to the office etc.  As for speeding I never once went over any of them, much to the annoyance of the local cabs, and other drivers  :D  I didn't care as I wasn't going to bring any attention onto me.  Luckily enough for me, I was driving into La Oliva, when there was a Police patrol set up near to the supermarket. He looked at me as I approached, but waved me by, as he pulled over the car behind me.

Now if I had been speeding...............................

Sounds like the guy in the cheap ciggie shop that tells you, you can take as many as you want back to the UK.  :o :o

PS, Iv'e seen alot of tourists driving in Flip Flops. This is Illegal, and will incur a spot fine. Also if you park on the wrong side of the road  ( which isn't illegal ) make sure the isn't a solid white line down the road. If there is, you've crossed it. FINE !!!!   Only cross a broken line, you can't cross a solid line.

Guardia Civil now concentrating on "hunters" making sure they don't kill too many rabbits

TamaraEnLaPlaya

Do the hunters let their dogs off the leads? If so, the Policia Local will be joining the Guardia on patrol to bring in some more fines!  ;D

Spike On Q

Solid white lines are a definite NO NO - do NOT cross them for any reason.  €200.00 on the spot fine!!

I remember 3-4 years ago on the beach at Risco Del Paso when we were lying there, soaking up the rays, when we were startled with gun shots and they seemed very close.

They were bloody close at about 50-75m away over behind us, 3 guys with their dogs roaming loose chasing out rabbits and game birds from within the shrubs that abound there. I didn't think they would have been allowed to get away with discharging a firearm on a public beach, but they did, as no one that I could see came during their sortie.

In fact I have witnessed this twice if I recall correctly.
