Electricity bills to rise as of 3 August

Electricity bills are set to increase by a further 3.2% as of Saturday once the new basic tariff is published by the Ministry of Energy in the Official Journal the previous day.
The rise follows a 1% increase which took effect at the beginning of July and is designed to help offset the current deficit faced by the electricity sector. Household electricity bills have now risen by 8% since January 2012 and a full 63% over the last decade to become the most expensive in the EU behind Ireland and Cyprus.
