I'm surprised no one has mentioned this - we have been in mourning here since Friday - three days, in memory of the people that lost their lives in the terrible train crash in N.W. Spain

I'm sure your thoughts are with the friends and families of the dead and injured

duncolm

Absolutely correct Spike. We managed to have a thread about the inane royal birth but not this.

My thoughts are with the friends and relatives of the victims, and also for those members of the emergency services who have had to deal with the horror first hand.

This crash was so awful and it's so sad that so many people lost their lives unnecessarily. Like you Paul I have been thinking about their families and friends. I hope all those injured get well soon.

Can the Man

Well said Spike, you are so right we need to remember those poor innocents who lost their lives.

May they all RIP.

It was a dreadful tragedy. May they all rest in peace.

Not wanting to sound like a troll, but how many people are killed on Spain's roads every day?  Do they have three days of national mourning for that?

This morning I was thinking about the terrible coach crash in Italy last night, and how it won't create much of a blip in the monthly fatality statistics. Perhaps we'd be in a better place if those figures did get more constant publicity.

Both these terrible accidents are awful and I feel so sorry for everyone involved.

Now 35 injured in Swiss train crash. A very bad time for bus and rail transport. God help all of them.

Going on pilgrims can be very detrimental to ones health, it seems.
