was standing in caleta chemist tonight getting eye drops when an irish couple in front of me asked for 10 yes TEN asthma inhalers, woman behind counter let them have them. how can that be allowed, I thought all that had stopped and we , locals were allowed only one at a time to stop this sort of thing, my friend needs one and they will be saying they have run out again like last time .......

The inhalers are cheaper to buy in Fuerte than paying for a prescription in the UK. I agree it is unfair to locals and should be limited to one per person as an emergency only.

If I was your friend I would make sure they purchase an emergency supply to cover in case the Chemist has run out i.e. do as the Irish do. Apparently in Southern Island, in particular, medication is really, really expensive, I learn' t that  from a couple of Irish friends out here, not from personal experience.

Tourists buying medication on Fuerte do not get subsidised prices, the pay the standard retail price, which is about 10 times cheaper than at home in Ireland or Uk.

I don't see what the problem is, because the chemist generally will have the drugs in the next day

Personally I buy a medication, it is Vitamin B12 and can only be administered through an injection.
I pay 30 euro at home for 6x1ml ampules, I can buy a box of 8x2ml ampules in the chemist in the airport for 3 euro, yes that is 3 euro, any wonder I buy a box every time I visit. But I don't buy 10 boxes or anything like that.  :)
