I just had to share this, as it just shows the way Caleta is going.

Bewear the Non-Mojito.

I was sat in a Bar in Caleta yesterday afternoon when this Spanish Sale Rep came in to speak with the lady owner, about buying these ready-made Cocktail-Syrup Mixes.

The one he brought was a "Mojito". Straight away she said NO, all my Cocktails are fresh made and my Mojitos are made with "Fresh Mint and Fresh Limes", and I have a Reputation to keep up.

He said No. No. All the bars are using this now, (which I don't believe), you put a THIMBLE-FULL of this STUFF in a glass with ice, a drop of Rum and top it up with fizzy water (it should be Soda Water), and at 5.25 euros for a LITRE BOTTLE, you make lots of money.  Well, we all had a taste and it was DISGUSTING to say the least. And she told him so.

He was still persistant and said 'I'll make you a Pina Colada one', at which point she told him to get out, and don't come back.

The moral is, when you order a Cocktail at 6.50 euros a go, you want to see it being made fresh, as this stuff is a rip-off. Also it's full of 'E' Numbers.

He tried the same sales pitch last night where I was.  The owners told him they weren't interested.

I'd never have a cocktail which I hadn't seen mixed fresh, a good tip is to watch them making them before ordering one so you get a good idea what goes in

Tried some of these cocktail per mixes years ago on main land Spain and they were number two, would not use them after that. By the sounds of this thread they are still peddling (or should I say piddling  ;D) this number two.  :D

That's good to know. At least there are some Bars in Caleta  that care about their products. It's the same with Bottled Sangria Mix, Disgusting stuff.

The Salesman did mention some places that use it, but I won't. Suffice to say they are late bars, that attract younger people, one in the white centre, and a couple not far from a certain popular Steak House.
