Experimental Members Map

I've installed a map on which members can post their locations.

At the moment it's centred on Fuerteventura but as many members are in the UK I think I'll later zoom it out to include UK and FV.

Have a play and let us know whether it's of any use.

The link is to the right of the Calendar link.

I zoomed out and put my current location in the UK and it shows in my profile.
I just wish it was our Fuerte address, but maybe one day.

On second thought - it won't be right if I have both the UK and FV visible - Fv will be too wee.

Although many members will be in the UK - perhaps even more than are residents - I'll stick with the default view being Fuerteventura - as this is a Fuerteventura site.
The map can, of course, be zoomed out to show the UK

Maybe one day I'll figure out how to have 2 maps - don't hold your breath though.

Another thought.

While some members may be tempted to be very accurate and zoom in on their house - this might not be a good idea especially if people know when you are away on holiday.

Was just thinking the same thing, easy pickings if members say they are going over for xxx weeks.
Actually thinking along the same lines, easy pickings for empty properties on Fuerte as there will be plenty of time to clear out a whole house and with that many people moving around who would think there was anything odd about emptying a property.
So maybe not a good idea as a whole.

Can't be too careful, you never know who might be looking you up. According to Google Earth, admin is beyond the reach of Street View. Unless she deliberately put the pin in the wrong place, of course.
