we are staying in jandia next month,we have a car and would like to vissit a few beaches.help please with direction and time on the road.

Hello Archie,

We're also staying in Jandia next moth, but all we can say is that all the beaches at the east side are very nice. The most beautiful IOHO is Costa Calma.
We stay at the Robinson Club, playa Esquinzo, and like to take the bus to Costa Calma and then walK back to the hotel over the beach, watch the tides please because some parts are difficult to cross at high tide because of the stones.
The other side is rough but also nice, you have to drive from Morro Jable to Cofete, it's a rough road, especially for 4x4 vehicles.
Roads are quite, no problem at all...

We too like the area around the Robinson. There are some great beaches heading North to Costa Calma, but it does get a bit exposed & wild around the Risco Del Passo area.

If you go to to Cofete take everything you need, water etc, don't be tempted to swim or you may not come back, & be aware that if you trash the car, you are on your own. It's a mind blowing beach though with the best view the island has to offer, from the top of the pass. There is a much smaller shelered beach on the other side of the peninsula called Playa Juan Gomez. It is sign posted just past the turn off for Cofete. Again, it's a potential hire car trasher.

The lagoons of El Cotillo are worth a visit. Take the west road via Pajara going, it has some good mountain roads & vew points. Come back along the east coast & visit the dunes. Its a long day but worth it.

I'll be in Jandia later this month (18-28 Nov) - my first visit to Fuerteventura.  Like you, I'll have a car and want to explore.  I love wandering naked along the water's edge in the sunshine!  I've found this beach guide quite useful in planning...

The road to Cofete is fine for any type of car except a Ferrari or similar low vehicle as can be verified by the amount of hire cars in the car park at Cofete beach and it's a 'must do' as the view as you crest the ridge is a once seen, never forgotten experience. Totally awe inspiring and do the journey often in the Clio. Don't swim there though.

Also the Pajara coast line on the west is fantastic with great surf to watch and some great coves to see with stunning natural sandstone sculptures. Take care swimming on the west coast as the rips can be dangerous.

It's easy to drive the whole island in a day and the mountain roads are also fantastic. Try a trip to Morro Velosa view point in the mountains near Betancuria on a clear day to get one of the best views of the island and a decent coffee. Copy this into google maps/earth to get the position; 28.438388 -14.050208. Try street view to see the guys cycling up there on the FV30 so you can get an idea of how hard that must be!

Unfortunately Morro Velosa is closed for renovation (or so the sign says!). You can park at the viewpoint just below it alongside the statues of Ayoze and Guize. The roads thereabouts can be a bit hairy if you don't like heights!    (Worth it when you get out and take it all in though  )
