while I can appreciate where they are coming from, it will cause all sorts of issues with people on medication, and other over the counter products fifi.

I hope its not a ploy to go as limited as this, just to create more revenue in these times of austerity   ::)

This extract from the article sums up the present problem

So, about 540 of those deaths were caused by b******s who were blind drunk and couldn't care less about who or what they might hit. There need to be better ways of targeting THEM, not people who've taken cough medicine or even those who had one small drink with a meal a couple of hours ago.

One thing I find really annoying is the lack of choice of non-alcoholic drinks in most bars. I sometimes drive in to Corralejo to avoid the 10€ taxi fare (dead cheap, but 10€ is 10€) and I'm sick to death of having no choice but sugary fizz (coke etc) or second-rate boxed reconstituted orange juice - and paying more for it than my husband's paying for his beer. I know you can't force bars to stock more choice but it would be nice to see tomato juice, other juices, ice tea, good coffee, milkshake etc.

Anybody want to launch a campaign for improved alcohol-free selection in the island's bars? I'll sign up!

Would medicines show up if you were breathalysed Kenny?

Its a grey area Fifi...it would depend on the type of medication and its active ingredients, but yes in theory a teetotaler on some medications could be over the limit. In fact there are so many grey areas that, a zero limit, has been looked at and rejected many times all over the world for this uncertainty. This is just a bit of August kite flying on a quiet news month or silly season as some prefer to call it... :P

When do they propose to impliment this law fifi? Sorry im a bit lazy can't be bothered looking again TBH.

Tut tut ....lazy thing. ;)

It is just being discussed. No mention of it being implemented yet or anything Kenny.
