Have to hand it to Team GB. They are doing excellent and may add a few more gongs yet.

Nice to see Team GB Andy Murray getting a Gold and Scotlands Andy Murray getting a Silver  ;D ;D

As someone who has seen quite a bit of the various sports in the Olympics but never saw the opening ceremony live and just watched on iplayer.   I make the following statement and make no apologies to Glen.

The worse performance medal in the whole games has been won by Paul Mccartney.   Give up and retire but I cannot say gracefully as he has left it too late.

glenys

fALKIRKDAN. I only watched some of the opening ceremony and loved the torch bit. :o But I agree about poor Paul McCartney, when he started I went to bed. I have been a life long Beatle fan but his performance was embarrassing. :'(

KWC

Yeh ol Paul wasn't very good to say the least.

Time to live of his interest now I think.

Magnificent show so far. Wow what a line up. :)

Always look on the bright side of life  oo oo oo oo oo oo    :D

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of number two
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
    (Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

Good advice contained in the lyrics. :)

Have to say the organisation and plannning that went into the Olympics was spot on and the opening and closing events were brilliant.

We all should be proud that Britain managed to host such an event and smoothly as this, not forgetting the successes of athletes, no matter where they hail from.

Well done to all

follow that Rio!!

A few Cringe-Worthy moments. Never heard of the first girl singer, Kaiser Chiefs mauling Pinball Wizard, when The Who were back stage and could have done it themselves, some Red-Haired scruffy kid annihilating the sacred Pink Floyd song "Wish You Were Here", One Direction obviously miming, Muse, no comment,  Queen, why did Jessie J. have to sing with them, when they have been using Paul Rogers out of Free. Now I don´t have a degree in Rocket Science, but, it was obvious to me that they should have sung "We Are The Champions". (Olympics, Champions).  When I heard the intro to "I Am The Walrus", and I saw Russel Brand, I prayed to God that he wouldn´t sing it, but he did. ##$%??#@Ç*¿¿¿

The rest, Fab.

It was a surreal show of the unexpected.

Why have a well known Beatles song when you can have 'I am the Walrus' groaned by Russell Brand? Why not have Noel Gallagher calling himself 'Beady Eye' (or was it Liam, I don't know). We could have had Ringo Starr singing out of the top of the Octopus but that would have been way too obvious.

I was expecting Boris to make an entrance along a zip wire but instead he just appeared dancing to the Spice Girls. That was weird.
