Just for fun....

Share your funny or disasterous holiday stories.

I will start by telling you how I became so fond of this Forum.  :D

The night was young and the second drink of the night had just been placed on the table in front of me in a little bar called Molly Malones which was in the Montecastillo Centre. "Mad Mary" leapt up off her seat to dance as River dance was put on in our honour and signalled for me to join her.  Flip flops were flung in the air and I gave it my all barefoot (for my Country....as you do if you are Irish and proud)  :D Then the unimaginable happened spoiling my Riverdance glory ;) :D My two (yes honestly two) achilles tendons tore one after the other. Well needless to say I did not let it ruin my stay which was a short one and two lovely barmen even offered to carry me to the bar rather than leave me sitting in the bungalow. My ankles were propped up and wrapped in bags of ice by the owners.....so sweet and I will never forget their kindness. Unable to walk for several months I started posting on this Forum :)

That's a great story fi,i never knew that had happened to you ? I found this forum by chance because we found Fuerte by chance too,to keep it short(if i can),we had been to Zante once and already booked to go back the following year but once i'd been thru that poxy airport,we went straight to the travel agents and changed it to Fuerte, best thing we've ever done !! We always checked the weather on the old site and i just noticed the forum so decided to post a happy new year on it and the rest they say is history....The first time we holidayed there we met a lovely couple and the husband like me hated bum bags and used to roll our eyes seeing people walk round with them on,on our last night there i bought him one and made him wear it all night, also went to Molly Malones the night before we came home and was rough as a dog coming home the day after....

Our introduction to Fuertevetura was August 2000 on a day trip out of Lanzo on a glass bottomed boat. We first stopped of at  Los Lobos Island (think thats how its spelt?) to view the many different types of fish in and around the island and we were in awe at the clarity of the water, when compared to back home.

We then berthed in Corry and bussed to the Flag beach and let loose for the day. That did it for us, and we have been going back every year and as often as possible - money permitting, and we have always said we would like to buy a villa/apartment there one day (no I don't want to buy yours  ;D, not yet anyhow) and stay at least 6 months of our Winter, in the Sun.

We have seen the island change over these 12 years, also the weather, and I don't know if anyone will agree, but this last 6-7 years it has been getting cloudier in the mornings and taking more time to clear. It is our favourite holiday destination of course and we have tried a few, Corfu, Zante, Carribbean, Turkey, Algarve to name a few, yet we always come back for more.  It has that pull, the lure, the magic, and lost of all the serenity of what we look for.

Next year we will be looking for a "Special" accommodation for the first two week of September (our Silver Anniversery - I know i don't look old enough, but your only as young as you fee or should that be young as the ............?l) and would be open to suggestions from you all on another thread I will be posting for this reason.
