The World Cup Wind and Kite surfing Championships are starting soon. Treat yourselves to a fantastic day and night down South and see the best in action. :)

Dates and details on this link. http://www.rene-egli.com/world-cup/world-cup-2012/

It was wonderful last year but unfortunately I missed the night time bands in the Marquee. If I had known about them I would have booked in somewhere. Enjoy. :)

Are there buses going to it from Caleta or Rosario? We were thinking of going down sunday for the night, where is the closest place to get accomodation?

Hi Aibhe, last year there were special busses organised for the event and one of them could be picked up in Caleta. I havent seen an advert for them so far this year but I presume that they are organised again. The ordinary bus time table is here http://www.maxoratabus.com/tiadhe/en/rutas.htm The activities take place on the Sotavento beach. Captain Sensible or someone else may be able to help you with the names of accommodation down South because I cant remember the name of the nearest Hotel. If you contact the address on the website I am sure that they will be able to tell you more details also. From memory I think I was told that the last two nights were the best party nights so check with them to find out if that is the case also this year.

Contact details....

Hi Aibhe here is a guide to whats on at night. If you use the control button and the plus sign you should be able to see it properly.

Hi Aibhe, we drove down last year but I think you should get the number 1 bus. The times are on this link. http://www.maxoratabus.com/tiadhe/rutas/01.htm  I dont know how far it is from the bus stop but if you have a problem finding it which you probably wont  ask someone in a Hotel to ring you a taxi. Ask the driver  to let you off for the World Cup Wind surfing competition in  Sotavento. Me gustaría ir a la Playa de Sotavento de la copa del mundo por favor. The event was well sign posted last year so hopefully you will have no problems. Have a great time. :)

PS. Sorry I cant be more helpful. I dont know the South of the Island very well . It is unbelievably beautiful and well worth a visit. I found this taxi number on the Forum for Costa Calma so put it in your phone just in case you need it..... 928547032.

PPS. I am trying to locate the exact part of the beach that it is on and I think the best bet is to get near the Melia Gorriones Hotel. http://www.rene-egli.com/your-holidays/rene-egli-fuerteventura/ I have absoloutely no sense of direction at all Aibhe. Im a hopeless case but I think this is right. :)

All buses going to Moro Jable from Puerto stop at the Melia Gorriones hotel during the championships. To get to the "village" from the bus stop outside the hotel walk towards the sea and bear left at a fork about 50 meters from the bus stop - then walk along the dirt road running parallel with the sea for 200 meters - you'll see the flags, tents, etc. of the village - there will be 100's of people around -  it's a fair journey, over an hour on the bus, so make a day of it. The day tent has loads of food offerings from around the world - it is a spectacular world class event - enjoy
