Flights Over France Cancelled

All flights going over France to Canaries, Spain, Majorca etc have either been cancelled or delayed today due to Franch Air Traffic Controller strike.

My mother just called me fro East Midlands airport, where she was actually waiting for take-off on a Ryanair flight to Majorca, when the pilot ordered everbody off and that the flight was cancelled

Just looked on the flight timetable for the airport and no flights at all showing from the UK today. Not sure if that's normal for  a Tuesday but the schedule looks very quiet. Nice peaceful day for a change in Caleta.

French Air traffic Control Strike – updated 11th June 11:00 Central European time
Tuesday 11th June to Friday 14th June
We have been advised by the French DGAC (Direction générale de l'aviation civile / Civil Aviation Authority) of industrial strike action by employees of the Air Traffic Control services in France. This will begin at 0600 French local time on Tuesday 11th June and continue until Friday 14th June at 0559 French local time – 3 days of continuous strike action. easyJet and all other airlines operating to and from France have been advised to expect only 50% of normal services, which means we will be required to cancel approximately 128 flights each day. All passengers due to travel on cancelled flights will be advised via e-mail and details of these cancellations can be found on our Flight Tracker / LIVE updates webpage.
All of our flights that overfly French airspace are also experiencing significant slot delays and this is affecting our entire flying programme. We are doing all we can to protect flights, however ask customers for their patience on what will be a challenging day.

 I think canary islands flights do carry on they fly out into Atlantic a bit more to by pass France we shall see later I expect monarch and tommy cook  to try, Ryanair soon cancel

French wine is well over-rated. Give me a nice bottle of Rioja anyday
