The guy who stands on the corner trying to get people to go to Waikiki . Does he never sleep ? He seems to be there night and day . At his age he needs to get a life .

Voldermort

He`s called Richard, really nice bloke..been pr ing for years now....used to do the same job at the Chinese in the centre across the road...a source of useful info in Correlejo. Have a chat next time your passing...Its how some people make a living...

zedzedeleven

Yes, he is a nice guy. Not pushy and once he recognises that you are never going to go to the Waikiki he still says Hi and is quite willing to have a chat.
Mentor to the boneheads.

As zed and voldermort say, Richard has been on both sides of the road for years, not at all pushy and a wealth of information if you take time out to chat.He also has an amazing memory, remembering us from one year to the next. We usually let him take us down to Waikiki, even tho its not our scene, its only one drink after all, no hardship.

Well done Ronnie, as I am based in Caleta when ever I'm over I have very seldom been to Corrie, but have frequented Waikiki  ;D

Richard is one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet. He loves his life in Corrie so, Super Simon, try speaking to him then you will see he does "have a life".

Super Simon Garner

I never said he was or was not a nice guy . I said he never seems to sleep , he always seems to be there and in my opinion at his age should have a job which would gain him a little more respect .
If standing on a corner trying to cajole people to go down to a restaurant and in the main being totally ignored , is the price you have to pay for a life in what may be your idea of paradise . Then personally I`ll give it a miss .

Morning Simon, a good PR is worth his weight in gold to an employer. That is why they are paid twice or sometimes three times as much as bar and restaurant staff on the Island. I am guessing that this man must love his job and be good at it if he is at it so long.  It is a tough job for some but if you have a really good personality and love meeting people it can be very enjoyable. :)

Fifi.
If earns good money then fair enough , in my ignorance I imagined he would earn peanuts . I take back my "needs to get a life" comment .
Puts the bloody hours in though doesn`t he !

I dont actually know him at all Simon. Maybe he is on his way to making his millions. ;)

I don't know how much he gets paid, but I agree that he's a very friendly guy - we always exchange a few words. The problem is that "paradise" is a dodgy term to pin down. Wikipedia says (apart from the religious angle)
Quote"...in paradise there is only peace, prosperity, and happiness. Paradise is a place of contentment, but it is not necessarily a land of luxury and idleness."
So, some can enjoy their paradise in luxury and idleness; the rest of us have to work hard for it. Personally, it doesn't worry me at all that I often have to work when the sun's out and others are on the beach. There's enough of the paradise-effect here for me to feel very contented. As for prosperity, that's another word that's hard to pin down.

Richard's a very nice man as first he constantly asked my family to go there then one night we decided to go for a drink for an hour then go round the strip, like people said hes got very good memory and knows quiet alot about corrie and the best places to go etc.

there also another excellent pr man at the chinese on the wikiki side before they moved over to the posh indoor one near the supermaket Jay Jay i think hes called, weve been going to the wikiki side chinese for years and years and everytime hes remember our names and faces and to think of it, imagine how many people they speak to in a year or the time different that you next go and yet they still remember names and faces. Quiet unbelieveable to be honest

Are you talking about the Hong Kong which used to be under the Dubliner pub somebody did inform me on here that it was closed. Do you think its the same people who have moved to this "posh indoor one".
I do hope so.
