I read this in a Spanish newspaper a week or so ago, they have a major issue with drunkenness apparently, and this will go some way to stop it and increase the amount of cash spent locally, seems a good idea to me. maybe if they introduced it here it would cut down on the number of Bars and restaurants that change hands. In Caleta alone, there are 5 bars for sale I know of and there are probably more.

While that is all true John. Many people with families on a limited budget would not be able to go on holiday if they could not plan their spend, ie, 2 adults + 2 kids at £x per person = budget accounted for plus a bit of discretionary spending !!
I know we went on AI holidays for a number of years & to be honest, wouldn`t do it any other way. I accept that there are people who abuse the system but actually think there are many many more families use it to get a holiday they otherwise could not afford

Morning Ron while I accept what you say, I think the idea is not to stop AI in its entirety, just to stop the unlimited alcohol, we have been on AI holidays, a couple of places we have been there was no other options, and thoroughly enjoyed them, but we always went off the complex to explore the local areas, many people do not, and I understand that as you say it is the only way some families can afford a holiday, and I would not endorse that happening, however I would still back a ban on unlimited booze.
