hi everyone my next question is what benefit is there sending money from GB to fuerte via a transfer company or just by online bank i am very wary about sending large amounts to a strange internet company it would be my luck for it all to vanish

If you go down to `Money Currency and Banks` section there are a few threads relating to just this question. I personally have used Transferwise on the recommendation of another forum member and they were excellent. Kept you informed every step of the way and very reasonable cost.

I use a company called Currencies Direct when I bought my property in April, and tomorrow I wil ltransfer more money to purchase a car. I found them very secure and they have an office in London who are very contactable. Also there is a contact in Tenerife called Donna Dent who is very good at keeping in contact. In fact when I transfered a large amount to buy my property they emailed me to let me know that they done it in 3 amounts to save me getting charges on my Spanish bank account.

Just to add some further reassurance, I regularly use Transferwise to move substantial sums of money from the Uk to Fuerteventura, and I have nothing but praise for them. I know that initial doubt/concern, when you consign your hard-earned to a third party and cross your fingers, but Transferwise have proven faultless, and totally reliable. The euros normally appear in my Spanish account within 24 hours, sometimes just four or five hours. On the one occasion when there was an issue - I was moving an amount which triggered their anti-money laundering rules - an actual person from Transferwise emailed and telephoned me to sort things out in a matter of minutes. They are much cheaper than using your UK bank, and in my experience quicker and more efficient! Good luck, whichever you choose.

They are very reliable.  I've saved thousands of pounds on fees and good exchange rates compared to banks and other money exchange companies.

Let me rephrase the question: Why all the talk about Transferwise while there is something so much better like  revolut?

PremierFX recently stopped trading, not due to difficulties, all clients cash reportedly safe.

However, it seems that they and others are only protected for 'transfers'.
Apparently, many people have been using them as bank accounts, only drawing off cash as it's needed.
That is risky, as that money is not 'protected' and could be lost.

It doesn't affect us in any way, but it may be worth checking your own situation with other companies.

Sadly Barclays now reporting that most of the client monies have vanished....seems to have been yet another Ponzi scheme in the manner of Crown Currency Exchange..
