Second hand Car Dealers

I would suspect this has been asked many times before, can anyone recommend any second hand car dealers on Fuerteventura as I'm looking to buy when I move over in a few weeks. Also how easy or difficult is the process of buying and insuring.

It very much depends on your budget Willie, there are a number on the Island, and I am told second-hand cars are cheaper on Gran Canaria, so much so as to make the ferry crossing worth it, second-hand cars are more expensive here than in the UK but do not devalue as quickly, if you buy privately I understand the hassle of transferring the paperwork is a right pain, I bought mine of About Cars, came with a two year warranty and A new ITV, I know Deso went to G/Canaria for his, and will probably give you some info when he next logs on, as I have already said it depends on your budget, and whether you want the hassle of going to G/Canaria.

If you buy a car from a private individual then you have to go to a Notario to do the paperwork and make sure you pay the taxes.

Depending on what your plans for the future are, you may find a brand new car to be a better deal.

New cars are more reasonably priced here than in the UK, and 2nd hand cars are much more expensive than you would expect. The 2nd market has plenty of cars you don't want to end up buying too, ex-rentals that tourists have abused and plenty of people who don' t maintain the cars like people in the UK are accustomed too.

Either new or 2nd hand the prices in Fuerteventura do seem to be more expensive than Las Palmas, same goes for the cost of most things probably

Bringing a car by ferry back from GC costs about 5Euros more than the passenger fare. The savings buying in GC are such that you could keep a car for two years in Fuerte, put on some more mileage and still sell it at a profit. If you buy from a dealer they will do all the paperwork and will usually collect you from the ferry terminal on arrival.  Many GC dealers have an arrangement with Fuerte garages should there be a warranty issue with the car, so you don't have to take it back to GC on the ferry.

www.coches.net is a good place to start looking. Putting Las Palmas in the area filter will show vehicles available around the Canary Islands, including Fuerte.
