Undelivered Amazon Orders

Over the last 10 years I have ordered many items from Amazon and have never had any problems with Correos delivering them.  In the last month, 3 orders have been returned to Amazon as “undelivered”.  As far as I can tell from parcel tracking, none of them got any further than Madrid and were then turned back.  Some other Amazon orders have been delivered as usual along with other post.

Has anyone else encountered failed deliveries by Correos recently?

No problems with items coming via Correos from Amazon, but Amazon have a habit of using DHL for some items and they don't deliver to FV - the parcels go missing for weeks and then get re-credited when we report they haven't arrived.

Absolutely right, I experienced this twice and then was told by Amazon some couriers they use don't deliver to the islands and terminate in Madrid! I found a way round it by using "other sellers" in the Amazon adverts, also seems to reduce the infamous
" customs/delivery charges" if package dos'nt have Amazon plastered all over it 8)

If I remember rightly DHL stopped delivering to The Island because they were having to many people refusing to pay additional "import" charges, despite Amazon and other sellers advertising them as duty paid, I bought an item about two years ago cost £175 inc. delivery etc, when it arrived via DHL they wanted €62 duty and customs costs, which I refused to pay, eventually I agreed with Amazon to pay it and they then credited me with the €62, Having said that I have used Amazon a lot since, and other than Correos not delivering it but leaving notes for us to go and collect it there has not been a problem.

Thanks for all the replies.

When I first moved out here I was told the best address format to ensure that post arrives from the UK is as follows:

NIE Number for Amazon deliveries only
Street name and number
Post code + town/village
Fuerteventura
Canary Islands
Spain
Post code again

This does not include the province of Las Palmas

I`m just wondering if Correos have recently introduced some fancy automated sorting system which rejects items without Las Palmas in the address.  However that would not account for other post getting through ok.

Should the official format for addressing post be like this?:

Street name and number
Town/village
Fuerteventura
Las Palmas
Spain
Post code

PS  In the past we have found Correos to be very good at delivering post.  Although we provide Debenhams UK with our our full address, in their infinite wisdom they reduce it to:

Street Name
Postcode
Fuerteventura
ES

Posty still manages to find us!

Is the format we use.

Morning John,
Why is it necessary to put your NIE number on your address ?

I would never consider putting my NI number on my address in the UK !

This is rather personal information that gives someone (potentially) the first rung on the ladder for identity theft, IMO

It apparently eases the path through customs at Las Palmas, before I did that i would get Emails telling me to complete the attached form, I forget what it was called, and that added about 10 days to the delivery time, I do not believe my NIE number can be used for much else over here, certainly not in our case for identity theft, if you buy something reasonably substantial in many shops here they will ask for your NIE number.

WoodsideCargo S.L.

We offer a small parcel service from our UK warehouse address to our FUE warehouse address - send your Amazon (or other) order there and we load it with our other cargo into the next departing container... you get your packages without 'interference' for a small fee.  It is a very popular service and works for many here!

Have to agree with Annette - we have used this service from Woodside on a number of occasions and it works very well.

I've had 2 items delivered very quickly in the last week without problem from Ebay. I would never use Amazon due to past problems
