Hi Guys

Management tells me she cannot buy the following on the Island, has any one any Ideas? either jars or packets, or in seed or plant form.
Cumin seeds

Cardamom pods

Fennel seeds

Nigella seeds [ nothing to do with Nigella Lawson, apparently the oldest seeds known to be used in cooking, some where found in Tutankhamen tomb}

As usual when we went to The museum in Cairo she did not know she needed them ::)

Finnegans??

Have you been the Indian shop Royal Touch in corralejo?  - the next road past rock island bar road.
Not cheap but you can get most things there.  Also the old Rita's supermarket on the top road - think it is now sumo - at the back corner of store by the veg they have a lot of spices.

Some spices are hard to find - ground coriander seed is the one I'm always on the lookout for. However, from your list, cumin seeds are in Spar, Hiperdino, Mercadona, Fran y Chemi etc, labelled 'comino en grano'. Cardamon pods can be found in Hiperdino in las Rotundas and in Fran y Chemi. Have not been looking for the others you mention, but FyC is always a good starting point, especially if you want bulk quantities at low prices!

Ole Man River

Royal Touch Indian shop sells most of them usually. Closes at 1-1.30, opens again around 5 pm .Closed Sundays. 8)

Cumin seeds in Fran and Chemis and cheap. The Indian shop in Corrie is expensive and the range limited so we have friends bring the rest out. Last time I went in there they had cumin seeds and cardamon pods, but not the fennel or nigella seeds The Nigella seeds (black cumin) I find a little bitter so usually substitute normal cumin seeds in recipes. Cheers
