Apparently there is some guy in Caleta, nearby 0'Connors Bar doing these Black Henna Tattoos which can scar you for life. Black is bad, whereas the Brown ones are OK. He should be stopped.

Also on sky news website where a young lad in Greece had problems with his black henna tattoo which was on his face.  As said the red or brown henna is okay but the black has a different chemical makeup.

Red Henna is a natural dye, extracted from the plant, which we've never known of anybody reacting to.
It indelibly stains the skin brown, but as the skin is constantly shedding and replacing itself (hence all the dust on the wardrobe) the pattern fades away over a week or two.
Tip - get one done on your first day, keep it well moisturised and when it goes, you have the pale pattern left in your tan.

The black stuff has very little henna, mostly synthetic chemicals, with an acid activator.
I've seen several bad reactions, ranging from pigment loss (permanent white shadow) to lumpy raised scars.

Sue spent many seasons on body art with her Henna running into the thousands, as well as a lot of Airbrush Body Art, and our local council consulted with her before clamping down on those who used the black stuff.

Only have red / brown henna done. Kick over the tables of the people doing the black stuff. Or complain to the council.

Butch the eff up and get a proper tat

Henna can't be compared to a proper tattoo, it's just a bit of fun for the holiday, though some people do take it too seriously. Overwhelmingly done on kiddies from about 4 - 15 and they love it!
Some adults, too and a few have had it done, live with it for a week or so, then get it inked properly. A good way to see if you really want it.

A TATTOO IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR FASHION

My Mum was 32ish when she had her first tat, collected quite a few over the years, then her last one at 80. Andy said it was like drawing on paper!
