60 euros for proper 50m agricultutal hosepipe, 2cm diameter. Ferreteria Saavedra.

Wild Rover

Just paid 70â,¬ for a for 35m on a nice hose reel from Savvedra good quality, So should last. I have my current one in the uk for over 20 years so these things are a one off purchase. A better saving would be bringing over a Barbecue they seem hellish expensive!

Good to know Wild Rover. I was going to be looking at BBQ's next week. Looks like I may have to bring one out then, lol.

Not sure what sort of BBQ you are thinking about if it was a gas one then Savvedra had some last time we were in there at about 275â,¬ upwards  as did Centrogar (the green shop as we call it)  but they were a little cheaper but not as good a quality. Pity you can't treat a new boxed BBQ from Homebase as a hold bag as they seem much cheaper here at the moment, mid priced  one on their website tonight is £320.

If you want to bring a BBQ, bring a Big Green Egg. As far as I know you can't get them on the islands.
On the other hand, you can't find cuts of meat worth of a Big Green Egg  :(

PHo

We had a cheap hosepipe for several years, but it deteriorated quickly as it was out in the sun all day. It got very sticky and unpleasant to hold. We replaced it with the most expensive one Saavedra could offer, but the result was the same. We have now bought a cheap one again and keep it in the shed.

I don't think anything plastic lasts long out there with the sustained temperatures. You have probably got it right this time PHo. Cheapest going & it lasts as long as it lasts !!

Ha ha caza, if Cdm82 is anything like me you have no chance. We fly out tomorrow from Edinburgh. I have 3 bags booked for the hold plus hand baggage & I couldn't get another thimble in, lol.

You wouldnt believe the stuff we have brought over in years gone by, from bedside cabinets to coffee tables , posh dinner set (not used yet!!!) . Dont bring as much these days as seem to be able to find more on the island but habit now to make the most of any luggage allowances !

Ha ha, same here, although think we are about done now. Taken 6 months & three trips plus a couple of Woodside deliveries but think we now have our place about kitted out to our satisfaction (at the mo anyway) looking forward now to the next trip (Christmas) for a bit of proper R&R 🤤🤤

I agree with the others that plastic does not last long out here with the UV, I paid an arm and leg for a karcher hose reel in ideal to replace an non brand one, the final result was that both lasted the same length of time about two plus years if left outside.
