I used Platinum Legal to purchase our property, and although at the time I thought she was slow, she never missed a deadline.

Raquel Hernandez at Aguado Damsell y Rejuera, Calle Juan de Austria, Edifico La Menara - Local 11, Corralejo. (If you know where Solbank is, it's just behind it).

Speaks perfect English.  Her secretary (Claire) is English!

HIGHLY recommended Moongirl.

Raquel is also a lawyer.  She has handled our property transactions as well as wills. She also looks after our tax situation.

Many thanks for all your replies will look into them all.

Moongirl, no matter which lawyer you get make sure you know exactly how much is going into your bank account at the end of the sale. The lawyer will not put any specific figure in writing, they will fob you off and make any excuse saying they can only inform you after the sale, i.e. when they present you with their final bill, at that point it is to late to argue, you might be in for a shock at that stage. They could come across as the nicest person you have ever met, in my experience do not trust any so called professional in Spain/Fuerteventura were money is concerned, you are their bread and butter, a commodity to make money from, simple as. You might  be glad you have sold the property and not be to bothered, its up to you obviously, but I nearly made the same mistake to the sum of 1,200 euros, I twigged onto their con by circumstances.  Just a bit of advice, obviously its up to yourself how you approach the sale.

Platinum Legal gave me a price at the very beginning 50% up front and 50% on completion, also gave her power of attorney which saved a lot of hassle.

Moongirl

Thanks again for your replies.  What kind of price for lawyers do you think we'll be looking at for selling a property with no mortgage? Anyone got any recent experience of selling a property in fuerteventura? Also wondered the best way to transfer the proceeds of sale as currently bank with Solbank and  know their  fees can be excessive.

Deso

You don't specifically need a lawyer to carry out conveyancing, either buying or selling.

Have a word with Sabrina Williams at  http://www.canaryadminservices.com/

We, and others we know, have used her for a sale and a purchase and would recommend her services.

She is English but has been on the island for many years and has a lot of contacts in the Spanish system.

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Hi,
My apartment is worth about 90,000 Euro's. What can I expect the lawyers fee to be if I used Rachel?
Cheers

WOW! That seems a large fee!  When purchasing my property, got a fixed amount lawyers fee for the whole procedure including getting our NIE numbers and organising change over of utilities.  Around Euros 1000!  From Napoleon Gonzalez in Puerto del Rosario, about 6 years ago. http://www.fuerteventuralawyer.com/

As a seller, you don't need a lawyer - there's nothing to do!!

At the most, just get a gestor who'll deal with any admin issues.

Even as a buyer, a lawyer is not really worth it as they don't do anything and at the end of the day, they are not accountable for any mistakes or errors that have taken place. It's not Northern Europe.
