Did I read in here that your not allowed to deposit rubbish in the community bins until after 9pm ?

I was saying to the wife I though this was the case but could see it written down anywhere near to or next to the large collection bins?

Hmmm... so what do you do if you're checking out of an apartment before 9pm?  Leave it in the apartment?

We take it to the airport - no restrictions on bins there

The stated principle of avoiding bad odours and flies seems fairly reasonable at first read, but, in our village (in La Oliva district) they don't empty the wheelie bins on Friday nights, Saturday nights or Sunday nights! So the bins are full and often overflowing by mid weekend, the lids don't close, the birds and feral cats have a field day and the odours and flies are horrendous in the hot weather. There is another night during the week that they don't get emptied as well, so only 3 empties a week, and then they wonder why people don't take any notice of the 'rules'! I seem to remember when I lived in Corralejo that there were 1 or 2 nights the bins weren't emptied as well, but perhaps that has changed?
It does make me a bit cross though when I see people filing the general wheelie bin with empty plastic water bottles when there is a plastic recycling bin right next to it. Same for bottles, cardboard etc.
I agree there is a big problem with what to do with your rubbish when going away - it's not really practical for everyone to take it to the airport and I don't think coach drivers, taxis etc would be very chuffed!

Hi Bedouin. I just binned everything the night before, leaving minimal qty of rubbish to dispose off discretely in the collection bin on way to Airport at 6pm on Saturday there.  My reasoning to any warden etc would have been that I am on my way home and had no alternative.  Whether that would have been acceptable to them I don't know.

Where this bin was it was in a relatively Quiet place with little likelihood of a warden around.

Then on thinking further when one comes off the beach after a day there is rubbish bins there and it would seem there is no restriction there, albeit less household type rubbish I agree.
