2 lovely sights:

Yesterday afternoon we were graced with a flock of European Bee-eaters in the finca. Amazing birds.

Just before dawn and with such clear skies the following can be observed (about 07hrs):
East low on horizon - Venus; West low on horizon - Jupiter; South high - Saturn;
To the left of Saturn the constellation sagitarrius; To the right of Saturn the constellation Scorpio;
Directly overhead - Vega.

Don't always have so much to see.

I saw a flock over Lajares too. Beautiful birds but not here to stay.I think they were on a migratory passage heading east. I also saw a lot of swifts darting round the house- quite big birds in relation to those you see in the UK.

I saw a flock in Lanzarote too and wondered what they might have been as I didn't recognise them. Quite a large bird and noisy too. Would have liked to have seen those colours close up. At the same time I saw the swifts too and maybe a few swallows. Thanks for posting.

Wow! I wish we could see birds like that over our garden. Have to make do with a few noisy crows!
Those bee-eaters scoff about 250 bees a day each! Pity they don't have a taste for flies.
Must have been blown off course by the calima, I guess. Thanks for the info.

I thought the same about being blown in with the Calima and warm air. Sort of makes the dust more bearable when you get to see something like that.
