Fred

I have reached level 12 but I can't find the new questions to get onto level 13 only the practice questions. Has anyone else had a problem with this?
Thanks

emmi

I am just testing this Duolingo out.  Have got to level 11 so far. Will let you know when I get to 12 and if I can get further with it. LOL!

spitfire58

it's a good course. I am only on level 5 but seems to be working so far. Maybe just me but I seem to be better at reading/interpreting than actually speaking, lol !!!

emmi

ha ha - me too!  But occasionally I get into full flow and surprise myself!  I think it is a good course, fairly simple and straight forward, lots of repetition which is good and reminds me of words and phrases I had forgotten.

Fred

Thanks for the comments. I am continuing with the practice exercises which are getting harder. You need 1000 XPs to get to level 13 so I have along way to go!!!

I`ve been using the phone app for this for nearly a year now and apparently I`m 17% fluent in Spanish...its really helped me and I do remember loads for when I`m over  ;D

emmi

Mmmm? I have hit a stumbling block! I am on level 11 and my "level Bar" is going towards 12. I have done all the lessons but now cannot go beyond that.
Perhaps the site is faulty? Oh well, maybe time to move on to something else!

TamaraEnLaPlaya

on the Help pages:

You reach new levels once you accumulate the necessary number of skill points for each level. There are currently 25 levels available for each language, and you can keep leveling up even after completing the tree by practicing and earning more points.

Any use?

Thanks Tamara.  I have also done more investigation.  Seems I had not completed some of the "modules" in full, which then results in new lessons not being made available until they are completed.  Seems there is some strict discipline there - and I had been cutting corners!!! So, Fred, check through all your lessons to make sure you have completed every single thing!! Then hopefully you can move on.  I am hoping this is the solution to the issue!!

dee-dee

Are you all using the phone app? I`ve not had a problem moving on to the next levels  ;D

spitfire58

I have an app on my iPad, not sure if it's exactly the same as the phone app dee-dee

Mine in is sections like Basics...Numbers...Places...etc then it will let you re-fresh the earlier sections as you progress  ;)

DaveW

I think I have gone as far as I can go on it, the last lesson is verbs conditional perfect. I just do a daily refresher to keep it going. The only issue I have with it is some of the words are South American Spanish e.g. Juice, mushroom and sandwich ....

emmi

You are right Dave W.  I had read on the internet that there were 25 lessons.  But there are only 12 as you rightly say and then if you are motivated you can redo them, or strengthen various individual lessons. I too have the App on my phone which is useful if you want to pass the time whilst having a drink although for some reason I find it easier to use on the computer.

Same as mine 😀😀

Further info:  just discovered that after lesson twelve, if you continue practicing and strengthening your previous lessons, points are added along the way and then you reach eventually the 25 cut off point when you reach 1000 points . If that makes sense! Phew.  It's a long haul, but have found that a lot of it "sticks" now.

DaveW

The (Ipad) version that I am using there are 60 lessons starting with basics and the last lesson listed is Conditional Perfect. Is this the complete set or there more that I haven't discovered yet?

Anyone tried Babbel?????????
Yes I have, but gave up as I found they tech everything as if in school correct grammar etc, I have just spent â,¬50 ish on synergy Spanish comes as 25 parts split into 68 lessons, the idea being you learn 130 odd words and it teaches you how to compose phrases from that, have had it about a week or ten days, and I have got to part 9, but have more Spanish now than after months with babbel, I will update my progress.

Is that the Marcus Santamaria one John?  I have been looking at that and wondering whether to try it.
I take it you would recommend it then?

At the moment yes, I have messed around with Duo-lingo, you learn to read Spanish but not speak, Babbel, where I got no where, but it is still work in progress.

dee-dee

On my duo -lingo you DO learn to speak...I`ve got the phone app  ;D

DaveW

I have used it on both Kindle and iPad, both have a speech element.

Any update on the Synergy Spanish course John?
