We are thinking of doing a two centre holiday next Christmas and trying either La Gomera, La Palma or El Heirro for some of the time and then back to Fuerteventura for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I'm not good with heights and, as I've posted lots of times before,love walking. Can anyone who has been to any of these islands recommend which might suit and what location. Obviously I have looked on google earth etc but always best to hear from someone who has been.

We went to La Palma for the day on a cruise. There's a tiny flat bit around the cruise harbour of Santa Cruz and then it goes up, way up! Everywhere you look is either worryingly up or terrifyingly down. At least, it was for my husband. I wanted to visit the observatories but they're crazily high. We just stayed in town mainly but ventured in a taxi up to a smashing restaurant on the hillside.

Hi, we went to La Gomera for a week and loved it, however if you want to go anywhere outside of San Sabastion, the port where the ferry docks, you have to go up and up.! The roads are fabulous and basically there is a big road that goes around the volcano and every road goes off this so you have to go up or down some pretty steep roads. The views are stunning and the difference in the natural surroundings are incredible for such a small island. If, like my husband, you can be a passenger and try to enjoy the views it is worth a visit, the walks around the island are incredible.  Good luck which ever you choose

Thanks for that both. Think will give it a miss. It was a good  thought - looks like it's good old Fuerte for three weeks but that's just fine with me

Didn't take much to put you off!!

All 3 of the mentioned islands are well worth a visit. I've hiked/explored all of them extensively.

Just get inland and don't do any of the coastal walks if heights are a problem. It's all relative after all. If your're not overlooking a cliff, there shouldn't be any issues.

Take a valium or some other relaxant.

You are missing a lot by not checking them out. I won't recommend any particular walks as we're a little bit like mountain goats and will go anywhere, so my advice wouldn't be prudent.
