Thanks to all for replies. Just wanted an idea of costs. I figured being out in the sticks I might need to get a landline to get decent internet but will only be out for 10 to 12 wks per year for now, can't justify 43â,¬ per month for that !! Will have to come up with an alternative 😔😔😔

Not sure where you are Spitfire, we use Fuerte Wifi and switch it on when we are there so for 10 weeks a year it costs between 270â,¬ for 6mb or we can now have 10mb 320â,¬ for the 10 weeks.
We have BT at home which means we have BT Smart Talk which allows us to call UK landlines for free from our mobiles as long as we have the Wifi in the villa.
We have an Orange  PAYG sim for local calls in Fuerteventura.

Do you have a connection point. I've been waiting 15 years. No connection point, forget it.

I recently renewed my EE contract and got the following :

Unlimited calls
Unlimited texts
15 Gig of Data for £20 a month (I can use this package anywhere in Europe)

Before this I was toying with getting a landline but I'll stick with my UK mobile, Spanish mobile (PAYG) and Fuerte Wifi.

If you can't wait for a line & you don't need to stream tv all day, then 4g en casa from Orange is great. We are happy so far. Over 30meg speed and piece of cake to install, inc free wireless modem. No waiting.
They have an offer of 50% discount for 3 months. Less than 30â,¬ per month (â,¬15 with discount). You get 35g per month allowance which is enough for about 1 hour tv per day on Android box plus all the net surfing you need. You can buy additional 5g add-ons.
Check if you have 4g coverage using any Orange simcard in your phone.

Hi John,
We are out in Valles de Ortega, about 15 minutes inland from Caleta (right in centre of Fuerte). I have an mobile wifi unit with an Orange SIM card & signal is not great inside the house so that got me to thinking of the landline.will have a look into it when i am out in mid Feb, thanks.

Hi Woe,
We are in the village so don't think that should be a problem (I hope, lol)

Thanks Archer,
This sounds not too bad, will look into it, thanks.

As a thought, does anyone know anything about Barrie  Carsten & his British iptv canaries service ??

sorry to pour cold water on the idea of a Movistar price drop but it is actually notification of a price increase from 27 to 29. you have to add on the line rental to get back to the 44 plus euros :(. i got excited as well until I rang them up. only exceptions are those folks who signed up less than 12 months ago who will stay on the agreed tariff :D
