We have them in our kitchen. Some are very small so there must be a nest. Tried spraying with preben and also preben powder, but still around. Anyone had similar problems and sorted? Anyone got their place professionally sprayed?

we have used Cucal, and it works well, but "we bought some plug in insect repellents from Amazon called  "Vermatic"that were recommended by a neighbour, about £16 each, very very effective, they will not ship to here had them delivered to our daughter who shipped them on"

The wife also uses a product called Desic { available fro Spa } adds it to the water when she mops the floors, only place we see them now is on the terraces, and they are normally dead.

Mercadona sell an aerosol spray 'Insecticida cucarachas y hormigas', not to be confused with the ordinary fly spray, which is very effective. It kills cockroaches and ants on contact but, more importantly, sprayed at entry points it forms a chemical barrier for up to three months. Smells a bit, but it does what it says on the tin!

I bought a couple from Amazon in December and they sent them to me here in Fuerteventura. Mind you, the first package contained a pair of curtains rather than the pest repellers! Amazon sorted it out very well and the real thing arrived a week later.

Desic - Agree with this, not cheap but very effective. If you have pets make sure you keep them outside until the floors are dried and you have aired the place through though.

Check the seals around your waste pipe and the wall/floor, they could have eaten through this and found their way into the kitchen.

or just come along the tunnel that is the waste pipe and right up into the sink!

My wife is petrified of them. So I have fitted silicon sealed metal framed mozi screens to all windows, vents will get the same. When I left last time, all sinks had the traps filled with bleach & the plugs put in & heavy weight on them. The toilet & bidet got the same treatment with the bleach (must have used a gallon or so, lol) & then were sealed with cling film & duct tape. All outside doors were sprayed around the seals inside & out with cockroach spray & Borox powder on the floors inside the doors. We shall see how effective it was when I am back out next month.

I have been using the electronic repellents for about a year (3...1 on each floor) and I haven't had any little surprises

I use Zum spray from Spa.  Seems to keep them at bay.  It is a barrier spray.

as a follow-up, used Advion cockroach gel. Ordered it on ebay from America. With postage etc pretty expensive - but amazing stuff. Solved our problem within a few days! Noticed that stores out here stock cockroach gel that may well work just as well

Hi spitfire, if you look in the ferritarias out there where insect sprays are you will see the gel in some of them. Alternatively google or ebay search cockroach gel and get some before you go. Amazon will have feedback. Apparently they eat it. Go back to nest and die and their friends eat them and suffer the dame fate! Put some in our drain cover as well - we have a pozzo no doubt a nice place for them!
