I miss the old bars, had some great nights in Alpha, and music was top draw, young Sean ect, now 99% painful karaoke singers. I have mates that live up there and love it, again, its opinion.

I think it's a fact the older you get the less you like change. To me Corralejo comes nowhere near to El Cotillo when it comes to the speed with which it is happening. Ten years ago it really was a one horse town with few restaurants and even fewer bars. In another 10 years it will be nothing like the place it is now. Now the Italians have got their foot in the door it's gonna move on like greased lightning. For better or for worse?... as you say...it's a matter of opinion.

Your right Holierspark, its all a matter of opinion. El Cotilo for example, people swoon about the place, I like the Italian Bakery there, apart from that, you get pebble dashed on the beach most days, there's some dodgy stuff floating about in the sea at times, and at night its a ghost town, very creepy place.

Corralejo started to lose its charm and character 25 years ago, the first time a brit started complaining that it was totally unacceptable that the waiters didn't speak proper english.

They didn't speak Dutch or German either. Most of them still don't. But they do speak English. Not because they have to but because it's in their own interests. Like it is for most of the world these days. Get used to it.

Corralejo is not ruined, by the Brits or anyone else, it's just moved on like the rest of the planet. The fishing village is long gone and a multi national holiday resort is in it's place. All instigated by those who will benefit most. The local Canarians themselves.

Just think of all the Canarian's employed by them, all the Canarian service providers used by them, all the Canarian legal services used by them, all the independent restaurants run by Canarians, all the bars run by Canarians and all the supermarkets employing Canarians.

Christ almighty what do some of the people posting on here want could not live here because of bla bla, moaning about immigrants in the u/k and bla bla, if it's a perfect world you want and find it pray let us know, as stated it all keeps the canarians in work can the same be said about the U/K, no i don't think so.

I also think the spanish waiters are far to efficient , they seem to want you in and out of the place as fast as possible.In England it's far more relaxed, you can wait 10mins before you get the menu,then another 30 mins trying to decipher the dishes,then at least an hour getting to the main course, and on occasions you get an English speaking waiter,we could teach the Spanish a thing or two about service.
