PET REPTILES, BIRDS AND FISH

Can anyone please inform me, if they know what livestock as in pets you can currently buy on the Island, and where from? Thanks

we have tried every where to get hold of a baby cockatiel but no joy, there are 2 pet shops in Puerto one on the left pass the police station and one at the end of the same road turn right and it is on your left just a few yards up and they sell most things, if you find any cockatiels please let me know, happy hunting for what ever you want.

Thanks very much for your reply it's most appreciated. We had rear baby Cockatiels in the UK. We have hand reared many different types of Parrots and Macaws. We use to have a house on the island, but that was seven years ago. We are looking to return now and set up a livestock shop. If you have any comments or views we would be most grateful to hear them. We are in contact with the authorities to license the business, we just need to decide where to open it and find a small shop premise to start it off.

Sounds like a great idea as it appears most people's pets tend to be generally dogs, with a few cats thrown in as there are so many feral cats about. I am aware of some people also having rabbits as pets, and you do hear birds singing, but these could be wild or domesticated birds

Sounds good to me, would love to have done it but i think my best years for it have passed me by, i still raise the odd love birds hand rear and give them to friends we get a lot of pleasure from it, when you do kick of let me know i would love to come and have a look around good luck.

If you are here in April, come to FEAGA at Pozo Negro granja. There is at least one retailer selling Birds, rabbits, fish etc, and many other wildfowl and birds on display. You may pickup some contacts or at least see the competition.
My lasting memory over the years, is of the schoolkids walking round carrying allsorts, in their hands, boxes, bags the lot! And then wondering what their parents will say when they get home from their schooltrip. 
Cage birds are very popular. Just look at how many Ferreterias stock the cages etc. (but interestingly never have a ferret in stock!!  )
