So the same woman has been outside this supermarket for our last four or five visits over the last couple of years . She had a sign up previously , presume she is begging but what is her story ? Anyone know her personally or her situation. Thanks

Allegedly, she used to be a very good artist of what persuasion I do not know, but had a serious heart attack, from which she obviously physically recovered, but has taken to begging and is outside Hippo Dino most days, I believe she actually lives in Tindaya, and travel to Cotillo on the first bus each morning, this information came from a Barman in one of the local bars, who ONCE gave her a lift home.

how she stands it I do not know, she sits there in the blazing midday sun with no shade. Doesn`t she have a dog as well?

Certainly used to, but she usually sits under a tree, an in the afternoon moves to the side of the building, must make some money out of it, or why.

Yes, we too have seen her there on many of our visits to El Cotillo, wondered what her 'story' is. You can't help feeling some sympathy, and did leave some coins early on, but after a while it does start to look like a lifestyle choice. There is, similarly, a woman who sits on the steps at the side entrance to Las Rotundas in PDR, with her cardboard begging message in a choice of languages. Again, she has been doing it for several years at least, occasionally relieved by a man who takes over her notice and spot. She must do OK out of it, as she goes into Hiperdino late afternoon and does a trolley-load of shopping. Sad to be in that state, whatever the history.

There are a few Gypsy Women beggars around. Two came through mmy village knocking on doors, with a picture of a small girl, saying she had cancer.
