Is 4G internet available in Fuerteventura? If so has anyone used it to provide fixed home internet without a phone line? Is it any good?

Thanks!

I am with Orange on my phone and the signal comes up at 4G most of the time - whether or not I actually get it is another matter although so far not had any issues regarding speed of downloads etc. Have no idea re my internet or TV which is with Movistar, but usually quite good.

You can download OpenSignal App...

http://opensignal.com

...this will give you a quick and dirty snapshot of what coverage you have in your current location, what services are available at what speed etc,.

4G is here, and coverage is improving.

Dropped in to Orange shop at Rotondas in Rosario yesterday, they currently have a couple of interesting options...

5GB of data on a battery powered mobile modem to which you can connect up to 10 devices, so basically you are carrying your own WiFi hotspot in your pocket. Cost â,¬22 monthly.

35Gb of 4G data on a home-based mains powered modem, runs off a Sim card not a telephone cable. Cost â,¬26 monthly.

Both of the above are on 12 month contracts. If you have got 4G where you live, either option will give you speeds of 20 - 50 Mbps.

Sound advice from well informed young lady in the shop, who spoke excellent English and was very clued up about which areas of the Island do or do not currently have 4G, was to try a Pay as You Go Sim first, â,¬8 including 1GB of 4G data - to test you have stable 4G (with 3G as backup) coverage where you need it.
