If you wish to pay these charges in the Antigua area by Direct Debit you have until 15th March to set it up. The payment dates this year are back to the usual dates. 1st of April - 30th June for the IBI and 1st Sept-31st Oct for the Basura. If you don't have a Direct Debit you can pay your IBI and Basura in installments anytime within the dates set out above.

Hi

Questions with relation to the previous post, we live in Antigua, and took possession of thr property 15/10/2015

.A. we have had a bill in the previous owners name, whom we believe to be deceased, we have been told to ignore it as its not in our name??
When does our first payments due, as we have had no notification?

Pandali

When I bought my property last year in Corralejo I was told by my lawyer, Napoleon, that whoever owns the property on the 1st of January of that year is responsible for the payment.

Has anyone in Antigua either paid or had a payment for the Basura, taken from their account yet? We had a jobsworth from the town hall at the door a month ago trying to collect Ayuntamiento Annual Charges from the previous owners, We showed him the deeds to the property, and assured him all outstanding charges had been paid by our solicitor, which he assured us had been paid, but the charges for this year had not been, when we then showed him the direct debit on our bank statement, he seemed a bit taken aback, but not to lose the discussion he launched into a bit of a rant about Thr Basura which was due according to him 3rd September, and to ensure it was paid promptly, and it still has not left our account, its only about â,¬23 according to him, but if there has been a foul up I would like to know before hm >:(

Hi the amount he is after is seperate to the annual charges, this is for bin collection so you need two standing orders annually.

Yes I am aware of that, the question was, has any one else in Antigua had theirs taken from their bank?

No, not yet.

To return to this subject, I was informed it was due between 03/09 and 28/09, has anyone had it taken yet?

According to the Jobsworth that knocked our front door it is â,¬28.30, but who knows

That will be for paying by DD.  They seem to be having some problems at the town hall. All ours should be paid by DD but although they took the DD for the garage, they didn't take anything for the house IBI.
We have now received a bill for the Basura in my wife's name instead of mine.  ::)
