Is a long shot but is there a pool i could use anywhere near to El Cotillo when we are there 5 - 19th March ? Unlikely but though i would ask . I am willing to pay. Wouldl want to use for 90 minutes every other day. Swimming in the sea is fine but rather use a pool . Sea is very dependant in tides and weather . What is the temperature at the moment ? It was so cold last March i didn't swim at all !

Hi Rich

There is a municipal swimming pool in La Oliva (depends on your definition of 'near' I guess) which supposed to be near Olympic sized

I remember Dan mentioning that he'd been there some time ago so he'd be the man to ask.

Hi MinRich, below are a couple of sites. Mrs mla and I have been swimming regularly in the sea at Cotillo during January. The initial shock was bracing but we soon acclimatised. I could spend 20mins or so before beginning to chill. Mrs mla didn't feel cold at all and could happily frolic in the sea all day.

Thanks 😃

The issue with swimming in the sea is that even if its warm enough the sea water supports your body so much that i don't really get tired . If there is one in La Oliva i think thats a bit too far away for me . How long is the pool at Cotillo Beach ?

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Hi Rich.
Won't see you this March
I have not used the La Olivia pool but looking at it I would say it was 25 metre.  It is covered but used to be open air until they got some of our lovely EU money.
If you find the sea too buoyant why not put a rock in a back pack that will weigh you down.   Or just carry the lovely Min on your back.

I knew Dan would come up with the answer    ;)

Just tried to book a room at Cotillo Beach, no availability until 26th March according to website! Anyone know if they are shut for a refurb or something?

falkirkdan

The pool at Marfolin measures on Google Earth 20 metre mind will be as cold if not colder than sea

They were open and extremely busy 2 weeks or so ago. Maybe, as Jan & Feb are Fuerte's high season for Northern Europeans and an early Easter this year, that may have something to do with it?

Could be. It was just that the website showed 0% available from now til 26/3 then 100% after that (which also includes Easter). I did email to check and got a short answer saying sorry no availability. Never mind, thanks for the info.

Cotillo beach is perfect to be converted to a Naturist Hotel . It cannot be fully booked , its hardly popular , so i'm told ??

It looked pretty popular when i went in there in January.

I was under the impression the Cotillo Beach is largely block booked by an Italian tour operator

falkirkdan

Oh no not the Italians in Cotillo.
The bars will need to buy in loads of straws for them to share drinks and no doubt the lagoons will be taken over with huge one piece swimsuits brigade.  Grrrr.
They killed of a lot of the naturism in Formentera when they could not get to Yugoslavia.  The bay I used to use was 80% naturist 2 years later the naturists ended with a small section at the edge on the rocks grrrr
