I've heard that Gambrinus has now moved upstairs and the China market/shop is taking over the space. We love that restaurant so hope the new setup works.
Has anyone been there lately that can confirm?
We fly out on Saturday so hopefully it will be OK.

Same people same food just different location. I don't think the ambiance is as good but on the plus side you can talk without the pub singer drowning out all conversation

I've driven past Fado Rock and El Patio sometimes, and the Singer/Guitarist is deafening. This is one reason I never go there. How can you enjoy a meal with that row.

Fordyventura

Perhaps the people in there are on holiday and want to enjoy themselves
with a bit of live music while they have meal.It makes more of a night out rather
than chicken wrap and chips in an dodgy restuarant/cafe type place.

Nice dig Fordy. Obviously a lot of people like dodgy chicken wrap types of places or else there would be some empty seats.

Typical answer from the "Brits Abroad" brigade. Why not have Karaoke too, and be dragged from your table to sing a song while you're half way through your Chateaubriand  :o

Fado and El Patio are great restaurants with a varied choice of quality food, great service and the music fits in with the Atmosphere. Some of the old lads who make comments on here would not know a night out if it was free. Its an insult to the hard working staff and owners of both Restaurants.

Live and let live couldn't agree more. I went into Fados the first night it opened 1998 I think? and a few times after that with the family. I then stopped going because I felt we were rushed so havnt been for probably 10 years. Strayed into there last month nice surprise it has a great atmosphere and the food was delicious

I haven't been to Fado rock for years. 7 of us went there, we ordered and the food came out before we'd even finished a cig. Obviously steak & jackets etc pre cooked and kept warm in the oven. Tough as old boots. We HAVE re-discovered El patio tho, fab food and as we go with friends / relatives who are locals they give us a 10% discount...and Alberto is a gem playing there, not at all intrusive of your evening.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the former .....
