La Caixa Barclays and CAAF water bills

La Caixa Bank have recently taken over Barclays ES. Despite promises that all direct debits etc; would be automatically transferred to your new La Caixa account. I had a bill from CAAF to say my bill had not been paid.

When I went into La Caixa, they said that Caaf would not accept this , so I have had to pay the bill, and do a new direct debit form from La Caixa.

So if you live in the UK, you are an ex Barclays Es customer,and have a property out here, your bill will be in your letterbox, and you wont know. You could find your water cut off by the time you arrive for your next visit.

Thank you for the "heads-up" on this. As a result of your post I checked my account and found that the bank had not paid my water bill. I am in UK until 5th July and so I emailed CAAF and La Caixa had been in touch with them and I was given the choice of paying my bill by 11th of June or if not, La Caixa will pay on my direct debit from Friday.

My biggest worry now is that they returned my occupational pension so I now have to track that down.

I have checked my account due to this post and found that it appears that I have not had my water bill paid either since La Caixa taken over. I wonder if you could supply me with the Caaf email address you used. I have looked on La Caixa website but am unable to find a contact email with them. They seem to have a mailbox with lots of wonderful graphs etc but no email address that I can see.

I would also advise all ex Barclays.es clients who had their accounts transferred and had dd`s with CAAF to check out their account and see if the water bill has been paid or not.

I only had details for the Corralejo branch. Since I did not want to travel to Rosario to La Caixa. They give you the option of which branch you prefer to have. I chose Corralejo.

As I am in the UK until September, I had to communicate with the head office in Spain. They have forwarded my query to the Rosario branch. As it was at least on the island I am waiting for them to contact me by email.

However if you have an email address for Corralejo that would suit me better as my villa is in the north.

The email I used was the following and I got a very quick response. I must say however that the bill has still not been paid and also my pension payment was rejected by La Caixa and returned to my pension scheme. This is the email:

Thanks for that.

I got a reply from La Caixa using the email I posted earlier. They said that it should be paid this week. I will wait till the end of the week and if no payment has been taken , I `ll get back in touch with La Caixa and also send an email to the address you sent.
